Cricket
Got in my car one day and all of a sudden I could hear a chirping sound. Thought it was some other guys car but nope it was mine. Sound just like a cricket chirping away. Anybody know what it might be?? I have a 04 Cobra coupe whippled.

Is it constant? does it go away when sitting/moving, and does it increase in frequency with speed? What about when you press on the clutch pedal lightly?
First thought is either throwout bearing, or seized slider in a brake caliper.

Well when it's cold I don't hear a thing. After it warms up a bit the chirping starts but only when I hit 1500RPM. At first I though it was coming from the wheels because it sounds like it is coming from the side of the car but then when I was just sitting standing still in neutral I revved the engine and at 1500 RPM chirp chirp chirp. It is quite annoying and embarrassing as well. I need to take it to get a smog cert tomorrow and I don't know how dangerous this could be driving it 50 miles. Any help anybody could provide would be MUCH appreciated.

While it seems rotational it doesn't speed up like I would think it would when I get on it a bit. Actually it stopped completely for 4 days and then started up again. I searched the internet for 'squeaking pulley' because some one told me that it could be a pulley bearing. It does however speed up a bit when I get it going 40-45MPH normal driving but it doesn't seem to go like a bat out hell when I really get on it. I had the whipple installed about 1-1/2 years ago so I can hardly think the belt is bad. Does not really have the sound of a belt slipping.
