Hello All,

I parted ways with my '67 big block cnvrt and went late model. Just purchased a mint 99 SVT Cobra cnvrt in black. The power in this thing is amazing. I must admit I'm not yet in tune with the high winding this unit needs for peak performance (my previous toy was a low rpm torque monster). It will be fun getting used to it, however.

Main questions:

I understand Ford underwent a significant mid year update/recall on the 99 cobra to get the power up to spec. Exactly what was done and is it different vs. say, the 2001 model put out by SVT? (or is this strictly a 99 model thing, making the 99 either better or equal to the 01, 02 models?) I understand it was intake, tuning, and exhaust, right? Where can I go to get the documentation on what this all entailed? (I'm persistent about learning this stuff. Good talk over a beer)

Is there a easy way to tap into a Ford or SVT database to double check that all pertinent performance upgrades have been, in fact, done by the previous owner of my car?

I'm going to keep the car basically stock, however any other quick hitting comments you can make about the 99 model to speed up my learning curve would be greatly appreciated.

ford would know if the car has been through the process or not. not sure if you can go to any dealer or not to find out. i don't know what parts where the parts that needed attention, because the 99s where the first year of the new style so they had BUGS if you will

I am sure that you can go to any dealer and they SHOULD be able to inspect the car or run the ID # on the car to tell you. Other wise, it is my understanding that the 99 and 01 are basically the same except for the HP output of the motor and a few cosmettic diffrenes, such as the seats and the rear bumper. I love my 01 convertable, and i hope you get as much joy out of yours!

the changes done in the recall involved the intake the exhaust and some computer tweeks.

the intake manifolds get extrude honed...they get 2.5 inch free flowing exhaust and they get an ecu reflash...they also get a K&N filter
