Default Coming to Texas

I found out this week the Army is sending me to Texas in a few months. At first I was bummed out because I've lived my whole life on the east coast. Then it hit me.....................I live in one of the heaviest taxed, strictest vehicle mod(s) state in the country.

So now I'm excited.

Just curious about a few vehicle mods, as to weather or not the are legal in TX.

1. Vehicle tint? Heard it was 25% all around is this true?
2. Headlight Spliters go/no go?
3. Windshield Banners go/no go?
4. 4" Cowl Hoods? I literally just bought a brand new hood, but will wave good bye to it if i can finally get a monster cowl hood
5. Headlight/Tail light black out go/no go?
6. anything else I might be missing that is ok in TX, that isnt in VA.

Thanks

I agree with most of what DreamerGT said. The only thing I am not 100% sure on is the Tail light tinting. I have seen quite a few trucks and mustangs with tint on the tail lights. I do think the tint looks good but my opinion is that it is dangerous.

Also you didn't mention anything about cats, they are a must. Especially when you go to get the annual inspection.

Welcome to Texas, be extra careful in El Paso. One of the more dangerous places in Texas right now with all the Mexican drug trade problems going on.

Thanks for serving!

1. I just checked the TxDPS website and it states the 25% for front, but no regulation on the windows behind the driver and if you have side view mirrors, no regulation on back windshield either.
2. Dunno.
3. If your car has an AS-1 line on it, then you cannot be below that, otherwise it is 5". See the above FAQ link
4. Dunno.
5. Ditto, not familiar with VA.

We look forward to having you here... Where are you being PCS'd to? I work at III Corps HQ at Ft Hood... There are a TON of Mustang owners around here.

Don

Taillight tint isn't that enforced, I just passed state inspection with these taillights.

Welcome to Texas bud.

Welcome to Texas! Tint - I know in Houston people can get away with darker than 25% in the front, I have seen people with mirrored tint and cops just roll right past them.
