Texas Insurance Rates Increasing?
Does anyone know about the rate increases in Texas? I received a memo at my job that said the coverage amounts were increasing to new minimum 30K/60K/25K coverages, and thus also increase our premiums as well.
Can anyone confirm this? I do not work for the Tx Dept of Insurance nor am I an insurance agent, so I am not sure where to even begin to find documentation on this.

it depends on whether or not you're carrying the minimum liability coverage or have more insurance than that. i googled this and found the following:

i've also sent a note off to my agent to see what she says - will advise...

Jim - i got this response from my agent...
I don't think that you will be effected. This is really for folks whose liability is still at 25/50/25. The new state minimum is 30/60/30.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Shannon

The minimum liability for Texas has been increased with effect 1st Jan 2011. If you were going with the bare minimum liability earlier, you will have to increase it and that is bound to affect your TX car insurance rates. Shop around for lower rates.
