Default Dilemna; 2015 GT or 2012 Shelby?

Like most Stang owners the intro of the 15 has given me an itch I might have to scratch. I'm conflicted though; do I wait for/order the new 2015 or pick up a 2012 or so Shelby for the same price? This is our 3rd, sunny day, fun, under 5k miles per year car. I'd be replacing my 2007 GT convertible (with 12k miles lol). Fwiw a vert is a must.

Leaning towards the Shelby on hp and uniqueness.

Not necessarily looking for answer but if you have a choice and why, I'd love to hear it.

I personally say the GT500 just because it is a limited production car and could hold onto its value as time goes by and other GT500s are wrecked, junked, etc. and thus become rare.

All GTs, even the S550 GT, will be mass produced and their collectivity and value holding ability will be next to none.

Alternatively, you could save up and wait for the S550 GT350 Shelby to be released for public sale an that would be worthwhile. But be prepared to shell out $70K or more for one (pending what FoMoCo will recommend as its MSRP)

GT500. If you can swing it, go for a '13 instead of a '12.

I agree with JIM5.0, Get the shelby, and get the 13 if you can find one in your price range. Or wait and get the GT350/500 when they come out... if they come out... and nobody knows prices yet on either so it will take a lot more patience .
I personally hope that the GT350 is priced around $45k, and the GT500 is priced $55-60k. But that is just my hope lol

I dunno, maybe I'm getting old, but I'd go with a '15 GT. 435 hp is already stupid fast, and the new car rides and handles so much better than S197. Plus the seats are way more comfortable to me.

Does it seem like the s550 has smaller 'corners' compared to the s197 for when parking in a tighter spot and sh*t?

no, it actually seems worse. there's a visible "ridge" where the sides of the hood meet the fenders, and that makes the front end feel bigger than it is.

Shelby gets my vote. But I am a bit biased. 13 gets you another 110 HP over mine.

Go with whatever body style you like best.

You can always add horsepower, it's a whole lot harder to change sheet metal.

Example, for what I paid for my 2010 GT, I could have bought a used Shelby, but the 05-09s did nothing for me in the looks department. I also considered a Camaro, but realized I'd be settling for a goofy looking car just to get the extra HP.

YMMV, good luck, sounds like a nice dilemma to have!

Buy a clean, low mileage GT of your favorite year & put a Roush supercharger, big brakes & Bilstein shocks on the car & you'll have the most bang for your buck! A nice car at a budget price!
