Need opinions on the '15 GT w/performance package
Hey everyone,
I've been contemplating getting the '15 GT with the performance package. I've read some reviews, seen some Youtube videos, but I want to hear it from normal people who drive this thing daily. My last Mustang was a 2010 GT Premium which I sold a couple years ago.
Obviously, the performance package comes with the 3.73 rear end gear, but my big concern with this is fuel economy while cruising on the freeway. Sure I want to be able to light up the car and go very fast, but this will also become my daily driver. I have a 15 mile freeway commute to work each way, every day, and I typically cruise at 65 with cruise control on. What sort of gas mileage can I realistically expect from this car with that rear end gear on prolonged freeway driving? I live in Southern California and I do a lot of freeway driving (not stop and go). I want this to be my dream car but I also want it to be affordable to drive normally.
If the performance package is going to destroy my gas mileage, what about a car without it, but with the optional 3.55 rear end? Definitely want to hear honest opinions about this from those who have them!

I have the 3:55s on my 2012 GT and I'm not wanting for more. and you'd have another 20+ horsepower on me. IIRC the engine turns at about 2200-2300 rpm at 70 mph cruise and I average (city/highway) 20.9 mpg.

Under identical conditions, but with PP I am getting 18.5 To me that is a negligible difference. The suspension won't gain you much. People have differing opinions as to whether it is too soft or stiff. It handles pretty well if you ask me, but is a little rough. The $$$ is well spent for the brakes, gears, and radiator IMO. I recommend getting it, but also think you won't be disapointed in either case. I wanted my dream car as well and at 36, this is my first ever brand new car. I have 0 regrets. Hope that helps.

I have priced the upgrades from Ford racing. Torsen differebntial - 1500.00. Strut tower brace - 239.00. Brembo brakes 1899.00. That is already over the cost of the package and you still get more, K brace, gauge set, unique dash and trim, staggered rims, etc. well worth it. I love mine and the only thing I see myself upgrading are the springs. If can afford it you will wish you had gotten it.
