Default To buy or not to buy?

So I am sitting here on the fence. I have been eyeing up a 2016 Competition orange Ecoboost unit for 3 days, but I am not super found of the vehicles design or the engine output. I took it for a drive and was very disappointed in the lag/holdback it has at WOT. I drove a same color V6 that seemed more powerful and have the approval to grab it, but I am on the fence about trading my 2007 GT.

My 07 is nothing super special, one of my many restoration projects... basically a Mustang unloved by its previous owner. Buy get it home give it some TLC, you know make it great again. After 4 months and about 7k in work, I finally got the thing doing 13.4 in the 1/4 mile naturally aspirated, while that doesn't seem like much when I bought it it was lucky to be breaking 14.4, aside from a full BC/CC and FI not much more I can do to it, so I thought why not try for a new 15 or 16, but I sit on the fence, torn. I have a huge love for Mustangs... basically Fox on up to 2014 (S197), but I am just struggling to pull the trigger on the S550. I love the interior and they seem to handle nice but the fascia leaves a lot to be desired and again the ecoboost was a let down to me.

Any of you guys want to chime in here and let me know what model you have and your thoughts?

If you don't like the body style then you don't like it. Maybe you should try to grab a used 2013 GT coming off a lease? One with low mileage (and leather) should run around the same as a brand new Ecoboost (with the 201a equipment group (ie: leather seats, Sync, etc)).
That being said, I felt the same way about the EB's engine when I test drove one. I was half-debating on going EB instead of GT this go-around (had a 2013 GT coming to the end of a lease-term) but ultimately decided to go for a 2016 GT. However, I've read that with about $800 in mods you can "fix" that EB and turn it into a mini-monster; a CIA and a Tuner seem to be dropping people's 1/4 mile times from the stock 13.8 to 12.95 in the EB.

The choice is yours obviously. I personally love the current body style but it sounds like you may want to go for a 2013/2014 model (they have the 5.0 v8 Coyote engine and have super nice interiors available too ).

The look of the 15 MY, along with a top hp offering of 430, got me to buy my 14.
I see nothing in the 2016 MY lineup to tell me I made a mistake.

This is very worth it. Love this engine. Love the Ti-VCT technology this engine has.

Yea, same engine and all that with the 2013/2014 vs the 2015/2016. The biggest difference besides the look/body style is the suspension and magnetic steering change (which I personally love).
As I previously mentioned the 2016s also have Sync 3.0 available (which, IMO, is amazing!).
I've heard issues with the shifter for manual 2013s (unsure with the 2014s) so if you go manual you may want to replace that.

Personally I'd avoid the 2011/2012 models as those stock taillights are just fugly as hell IMO, plus they don't have LEDs (if you care about that sort of thing )

I have had a slew of 2013/2014 model years, was getting bored with them after a while too. Still on the fence but hearing others opinions helps.

yeah, globalization ruined the look of the Mustang. which is why instead of getting a newer one I replaced my 2012 GT with something that has two wheels.

I'll never give up on Mustangs as long as I can find running New Edge SN95 and 1st generation S197's

I would keep the one you have.

If you do buy a new one go with v-6 or v-8.
