Exclamation Mustang EB efficiency in hot weather?

Hello everyone,

I am planning to buy 2016 Mustang EB and i want to use it as a everyday car to drive it from home to work and back (highway distance of 65 miles) also to go out in the weekends.
I live in a hot country temperature range between 95 to 113 in the summer which can last up to 4 months.

My questions:

1. How reliable is the EB engine for commutes?
2. How efficient the turbo is going to be in my country? heat souk? loss of power?

I am this close to pull the trigger i just want EB experts/owners feedback

I suspect many SW USA owners have the same concerns, especially in the desert areas.

Gonna get hot under the hood for sure.

Should be reliable. I'm sure they have tested the motor in all conditions.

Synthetic oil would help a lot.

Not directly related but similar scenario. Wife owns a 2013 Turbo beetle. It uses a 2.0 Direct injection motor like the Mustang. It's going on its third summer here with a much tighter engine bay than the Mustang. First two summers were just fine, no problems. I suspect this summer will be no different. I can't speak for fuel efficiency as it's her car so I don't drive it much.

An EB Mustang should be just fine. Just listen for pinging though as that could be signs of timing that is too advanced for the fuel being used (or excessive heatsoak) or signs that you need a new air/fuel filter.

Just my $0.02

Ford has the Arizona Proving Grounds for this reason.

I live in the DFW area and was also concerned about the heat. I've solved that problem, with a aftermarket hood.

The Ecoboost 3.5 in the F150s had reportedly had problems in high humidity areas, not sure if they got that fixed. I wouldn’t worry too much about dry heat, but I would stay out of the turbo about 10 minutes before I turned the car off. Turbos can get hotter after you turn your car off, as oil is no longer circulating through the turbo.

Love that hood! I spent 10 days in AZ with an EB mustang. Between Winslow to Flagstaff to Scottsdale and averaged 31.7 MPG. I had the cruise set at the speed limit and kept the car in "normal" mode.

Of course avg MPG's will vary on many factors, Track or Sport + mode will affect it.

Personally, as a current GT owner, where the GT is not a daily driver, I loved the EB was thrilled and shocked at the power, and would easily purchase an EB mustang as a DD.
