I don't understand, why do you believe that the GT500 is a specially made, pixie dust sprinkled by Shelby's shop, individual creation when you have linked to sources that make no mention of Shelby building the regular GT500?

We aren't using Wikipedia as a source, you're using some silly dream as proof, and worse still, stupid insults to back them up. Guess where the GT500's motor, Supercharger and, well, everything that makes it different were bolted in? Yeah, that's right, the regular Ford factory.

Seriously, I don't even know why you're so keen to defend the GT500 when you're listed as owning a 2012 V6. Is it that hard for you to believe that the same union workers that put together the 3.7 also put GT500s together and they go nowhere near the Shelby shop, unless they're going to become Super Snakes, GT1000s or GT350s?

Why would Ford pay so much to ship GTs to Texas, just to bolt on a few different parts? Have you seen how much extra Shelby charges for their Super Snakes? If they did that work, the GT500 would cost a lot more than the sticker price in your local Ford dealer. They wouldn't.

You need to get your facts straight before you start spouting off information that is WRONG. Plenty of members here tried to set you straight, but you refused to back down. Mouthing off at a Moderator only makes you "look the fool"...

Just to add to this, you're wrong. GT500s start off as... well, as GT500s. You are correct about Saleen, Roush, Steeda, etc. taking stock GTs for conversion into S281s, S302s, Stage 1s, etc. but wrong about GT500s originally being GTs. They are built in the same plant as the V6 and GT, they are GT500s from start to finish. The only conversions Shelby (in Vegas) does are V6 and GTs into GTS models, GTs into GT350, and GT500s into Super Snakes and GT1000.

And come on, guys, why the heated discussion? This is meant to be about the upcoming model, the S550. Not about Shelby's role in conversions and such. I say everyone just drop the arguing already. Give CaptainRon the deets and if he still refuses to accept them, then let him think wrong.

OK, you guys need to stay on topic please... if not we'll start deleting posts or lock the thread.

ALL of us know what a GT500 is and how and by who it's made.
One guy with an attitude struggling with facts can't be our problem, let's move on.

I'd still take the v6. You might be able to gain more with a tune on the turbo 4, but you can't only squeeze so much out of a 2.5L. Maybe college kids with no money would go for it, but not me.

I'd get the v8 anyway,

Yeah but that "so much" is quite abit.

and this was with an old technology car. imagine what could be done with a modern setup and computer tuning.
