Everyone is predicting a weight loss of around 100-200 pounds.

Do we think this is possible with an independent rear? Curious to hear what others in here think.

From what has been confirmed of talk of a smaller and lighter car, this isnt possible.

It would be like putting the '73 mustang body on the mustangII chassis.

I reckon the car will be a little smaller and lighter itself, but I also take what Ford said before with a grain of salt that IRS would've weighed a lot more than the SRA, of course, I can see easily that it would've cost them a lot more in developing the parts back when the S197 was released.

They chopped up an S197 to be their mule. Check out the rear track, the wheels are coming out further than they would normally. It can be smaller but have a similar wheelbase to the S197 though.

or they are running an old set of new edge rims with the wrong offset to clear some set of brake package. Cause those are not ford rims.

100 to 200 pounds lighter isn't enough to make this car light enough.
It just brings it back to the new edge weight roughly.
Going back to the fox body weight is where it's at IMO.
Shorten the wheel base would also be a good thing...

No way this is the 2015 the 2015 is said to not be able to take an engine larger than the 5.0L.

Smaller and lighter does can not include an S197 in any way. If you look at the length and width of the S197 and weight its almost the same as the 71 - 73 Mustangs......

It's going to be the same story as the Copo Camaro...anyone wanting something truly capable at the drag strip is going to have to shell out the $$$ for a solid axle.

Imagine that...a solid axle being part of a performance package.
