2012 GT to 2015 GT....or 2015 ecoboost???
I still need to see the power numbers but right now the idea of a tuned 2.3 sounds pretty good (especially for the price). I have driven the focus ST and was impressed with the power band and know they (and the fiesta st) respond pretty well to tuning.
I owe somewhere around $12k left on my 2012 and have ~10k equity in it. Based on bone stock base models, my payment on an ecoboost would be 288 and on a GT would be 400 (Paying 390 right now).
So...do I maintain my same payment for another 2.5 years to get the new GT... save $100 a month over a new GT and get the ecoboost....or keep my 2012 and finally buy the wheels/tires and have a car thats paid for in 2 years.
Anyone else have a GT now and considering the ecoboost? I love turbo cars but I also love the sound of my 5.0.

Wait it out...like I am. 2 years in and you'll see what Ford is really bringing to the game. 2016 to 2017 should have a Mach 1 on the table following the GT350.... You'll see the trickle down tech they learn from the specialty vehicles make its way into the GT's and perhaps a new Boss variant.
That way you don't buy in now and kick yourself for not waiting. Your 2012 will make for a great project vehicle by then. Have fun with it until then.

Waiting to see what happens for a Mach 1 or GT350 would also mean more money. I say do whatever you wish. The new GT is different then yours and from what Ford says, it would be like driver an improved 2013 Boss. Point being, you would not be disappointed with it. In fact the opposite, you will be impressed. As for going from 2012 5.0 for ecoboost I would say you will not be as happy. Do what is in your heart. The 2015 will sure to be awesome.

OP.......Ignore this guy.... Get your current Mustang paid off first then dive into a new s550 after the bugs are worked out of the first year release... You don't need to be the Guinea pig. Keep your s197 for a project car and mod it. Baby the 2nd or 3rd year release of the s550 when you get it .... Pay it off then repeat for the next iteration of Mustang. And so on and so on.
Then ...
Listen to all the 1st year adopters as they express the regret of not waiting like you did.
Patience ..... Will be rewarding

That is pretty solid advice- thanks. I like the idea of having the "newest" car but I remember the bugs of the 2005 and 2011 cars...
I do need to get this one paid off. Maybe once I do that I can either mod the 2012 without worry (I have a 100K bumper to bumper warranty which is why I have not tuned my current car) or sell it and then put ~15k down on a 2016/2017.

I would sell 2012 *assuming that's an option* Put away that payment plus whatever extra you put away every month for two years. Use accumulated down payment for 2016-17 mustang and have a very low payment on a loaded up new one.

Thats also a good idea... i do have a winter car (2001 ford focus with 120k on it but its reliable). If i sell the stang ill get about ~10k cash out of it. If i save even $300/month for two years, thats $7200. 17k down on a $35k car is a nice down payment.
On the flip side, if i kept the stang for those two years, it would probably drop ~7k in value (be worth maybe 14k?) But the note at that point would only be $2-3k... so i would have ~ say 12k for a down payment but would have been able to drive the 2012 for two years.
Technically id have to factor in the insurance difference (two cars vs one) among otber things butttt in a couple beers deep and dont care that much lol.
