Default 2015 mustang 400 lbs lighter?

http://www.autoblog.com/2013/08/15/n...op-400-pounds/

Getting 15 inches shorter, 6.5 inches narrower. The back seat is allready insanely small, are they converting it to a 2 seater?

Is this 400 lbs lighter with an IRS?

how is this even going to work

It's probably going to a 2+2 interior vs a 4 seater. Nissan 350/370Z are considered a 2+2 configuration, all this means is it has 2 seats plus 2 more but good luck sitting anyone back there as the back seats are just there for show.

can't say about the IRS and weight although if they are trimming the fat (girth and length of the car) I can see the weight being easy to trim off even with IRS.

What? The mustang has always been a 2+2. There's never been a rear seat in a 350/370Z.

Turbo 4 cylinder would shed a lot of weight. That article doesn't specified what motor would be used in the test.

Yeah my bad. 2+2 has the hump instead of the bench style in the back.

350Z/370 was thinking of the aftermarket kits to make them a 2+2.

Im 150 lb or so and the mustang allready feels small and narrow to me, the rear seat is almost unusable. losing 6.5 inch of width.. i dont see how that could really be a good thing for handling. Most of the best handling cars are wider than average cars.

Shortening it could make sense if they did it in the right areas I suppose.

Removing the rear seats would just completely change the car though.. Should have a different name than mustang if no rear seats.

Haha. Im 6'2" and about 260. You want to try small and narrow, drive a '97 mustang.

I feel up my buddies knee every time I hit 5th gear now... I don't want awkward man to man hand to knee rubs shifting into 3rd, too... Glad I picked up my 14 instead of waiting.

So it looks like Ford is going back to the classic smaller design such as those seen in the Sn95s and foxbodies. Anybody that's ridden or owned one of those knows the rear seats are pretty much for young kids, smaller people, and mainly decoration only.
