Typically, people never like change. The car as a whole is a nice vehicle. Just like the 10s that came out, everyone hated them, now they are everywhere.

I remembered when I had my 2007GT and saw the 2010GT, thought it was hideous.. LMAO! Look what I own, they are good looking cars. The 2015 will be hot, especially when modded.

Now, I personally will not be the first person getting one, I have everything I need in my 2011... Eventually I will get one in 5 or so years and it will be a later model... so continue on with the thread.

Looks a bit less rugged and more refined to me, but no less aggressive. I like it.

The following is directed at some members of this forum but certainly not most.

I recall that when the S197 came out, the general public loved it but all the Mustang forums I visited seemed to have sour grapes regarding the new design, with the general theme being that Ford should have taken a step forward with a more futuristic design instead of taking a step back with a retro design. Most of these people owned SN-95's. But at this point, I'm pretty sure many of those people have bought an S197.

I also recall that when the 2010 update came out, it was received well by the general public but the forum crowd seemed to hate it, most notably the 2005-2009 S197 owners. "If this is the new Mustang than I'll keep my 2005!" In fact I think most SN-95 owners liked it. After the 2011 the power jump happened and many of these people ditched their early model S197 for the face lifted car.

Now the S550 comes out and the public loves it, I mean really loves. Many of my co-workers have gone out of their way to mention to me how cool the new car is. Yet it's the same old "I'll keep my old Mustang blah blah blah" over here at Mustang forums.

People don't like change and they don't like when their car is no longer current.

For those of you who are complaining that it looks like the Fusion, hello, this is extremely common. The Mustang has spent many successful years (far more successful generations than the S197) carrying the current Ford corporate design theme. The Fox body "looks" like a Escort, the SN-95 "looks" like a Taurus or Escort ZX2, the SN-95 New Edge "looks" like the updated Taurus and the Mustang II "looks" like a Pinto. Those cars were all Mustangs and they "looked" like a Mustang because they were a Mustang.

One more thing, I can't take anymore of this "Ford ruined a good thing." I love my S197 but look at the sales numbers, they suck, something needs to change if we want this car to carry on into the future.

Sorry for the rant but the stuff I read in here is starting to frustrate me. I was born and raised on Mustangs, my grandfather owned about 30 when I was growing up. Machs, Shelby's and Boss cars. My Dad had and has Mustangs, my best buddies do and so do I. For the record, I ****ing love the new car.

I agree with this, although I dont quite think the Mustang will be a huge seller. It'll make husbands that aren't massive car guys a little less sad about getting a Fusion instead though. It's still the car that'll get people on the fence into the dealership.

You're spot on about the Escort though. I remember when I first saw a Foxbody after growing up in the UK and instantly thought of the European Escort XR3i (its nickname was 'Dagenham Dustbin')...

Well said, I too am tired of all the people jumping on the bandwagon "it looks like a Fusion". If you can't tell looking at the car, from the front, that it is something other than a Fusion then you have very myopic vision. And when you compare the 2015 front to the history of the Mustang, there is more Mustang in the Fusion than there is Fusion in the Mustang.

Yeah you guys are right. Time to leave the past behind and embrace the new. Lets throw all the old inferior mustangs in the crusher and embrace the clearly superior and universally embraced 'new' mustang, a pinnacle of individuality and uniqueness.

I'm sure they will be topping the Barret Jackson Auctions soon enough........

I like it and the lower and wider stance will be awesome. More interior room will be nice too.

Anyone who doesn't like it, don't buy one!

Would you guys have been happier if the new mustang was the first one to come out in this design and then the others "copied" it?

Not trying to prod or bait anyone, just curious.

Personally, I think the s197 that came out in 05 was done right, and I really haven't liked the 10+ or the 15. Something about the curves and angles were perfect to me in 05 with the balance of a new car with retro looks and feel (and also mechanicals that aren't super complicated).

I personally think the rear looks cool on the new one since it still has the same eye trick that the s197 did to make it look like it had a little bit of aggressive rake when it was actually flat, but other than the engine options nothing else gets me excited about it.

Lol, way to counter my point by twisting my words completely off topic. I'm still going to keep my '67, '83 and '11 thank you very much. But that's not to say I don't love the new car.
