..so 310 hp from the ecoboost with 320 ft/lbs torque. That's very strong for a 2.3L.

The rest...meh. a 5 hp loss on the sixxer basically means nothing and a 15 hp gain on the GT is nice but also not very significant.

I bet they just lowered the rating on the sixxer and that in fact its still the same engine from 2014.

Not too bad in the weight dept, but nothing to celebrate either on the power side. Methinks the 2.3EB will sell like hot cakes, maybe well enough that Ford considers a EB V6 as an alternative to the V8 in its GT models? *gasp*

Eco boost matches the power I thought it would be. I'm more concerned about the engine internals. Will they finally not be garbage and can we get a decent manual for the non gt500 cars!

I'm looking forward to some seat time in the EB4. I have owed several European cars and I would like to see if Ford is serious about competing with them. Should be interesting. The drop in the V6HP might mean that Ford will use this motor primarily for their rental fleet and offer the EB4 & 5.0 for enthusiasts.

Ford is leaving HP on the table so the can sell future model years.

2015 will sell just because of the new body style.

by 2017 they will need to bump up the HP to entice newer buyers.

2018/19 do a slight refresh to body style to do the same...

rinse and repeat.

IIRC the 2.3 was supposed to use RUG, but this article refers to PUG.
So which one is it?

I don't think ford dropped the HP in the V6. It's all a numbers game. Why would you drop horsepower on an engine that you've already spent good development money. I'm betting the 15 is exactly the same as the 14 V6. But I believe they want to move a lot of turbo 4 bangers to get their café average up.

A PUG is a dog that uses the RUG as his toilet; and I almost forgot, as his toilet paper too!
