Just curious, which studies are these?
Where are their results published?

Before touching, I would wash those studies, as I suspect I know where they were pulled out of.

I'm kinda of the same suspicion. Cars retaining their value according to color sounds far fetched to me. The only scenario in which I can see car color being a factor to value is if the car itself is a limited production vehicle and the color option itself is an exclusive color.
For example: one of the 1,964 50th Anniversary Edition S550 GTs in Kona Blue.

But the notion that yellow and orange cars are more valuable does not hold much water with me. Sure, they are not as common, but unless a whole lot of S550s are wrecked/scrapped and only a a few thousand remain within only a handful are orange or yellow, I'm not buying that orange and yellow S550s will be worth more than a red one, black one, blue one, white one, etc.

it's not exactly a "study" but there's evidence that this is indeed the case:

the gist is that loud/vibrant colors aren't very popular, but the people who want such a color are willing to pay more to get it.

This is what I think too and if you put yourself in the car buying mode and have to have a limited run color you can be damn sure its going to be hard to find and cost a grip

The nice thing about the S550, which fortunately has also applied to previous Mustang generations is that most dealerships (if not all) will work with you to find a Mustang in the color you want.

With S550 Mustangs of all 2015 trims on the sales lots now, I'm very sure that finding one in the color someone would want would be very possible. The buyer might just have to wait for the Mustang to be transferred from another dealership if the lot he is shopping at does not have one.

If the buyer wants more than just a specific color (orange or yellow for example), and he wants the Track Pack and for his car to also have specific options, the dealership can always place a custom factory order (build your own).

I'm glad Ford has taken this stance for the customers.
