Automatics in GTs?

Thanks.I'm thinking of keeping my manual trans 04 GT convertible,( a nice car that's not worth all that more than the current upcharge from a coupe to convertible)and adding a 2015 GT coupe to the herd, perhaps as a gentleman's cruiser with automatic.

The MT82 manual transmission has had its problems and TSBs to fix what they suffered from, but I'm sure the 2015+ MT82s are much improved units over the early 2011 and 2012 MT82s.
Out of the numerous stories of MT82s suffering problems, there are almost no stories of the 6R80 giving any problems. Since the 6R80 has been in Mustang use since MY2011, that means there are 6R80s that are pushing 6 years of life. As of this 6 year lifetime, I have not heard or seen any stories of the 6R80 failing or causing any problems. In this 6 year span, there are bound to be many 6R80s that have over 100K miles on them.
With that, I would tend to think the 6R80 is reliable.
As for durability, the 6R80 is solid as a rock. Many guys who track their Mustangs with the 6R80 are putting over 700BHP into them and in several cases, even more.
I know you said you don't race, but knowing the abuse the 6R80 is taking from racers is also testament of how durable they are.

Thank you Jim-that's just the kind of info that I was seeking.
I enjoy driving the manual in my 04,though I don't think that it's an exceptional transmission. When I test drove a 14,thevery light clutch pedal and shift to 6th,took a little time to get accustomed to.
If I keep my 04,I'd probably get an automatic 15.If I don't,I'd probably get a stick.

I've been driving little Hondas with manuals for so long, I am really wondering how the American cars compare in shifter feel and clutch weight at the pedal. All the V8 cars I've ever driven have been an auto. I should be ok though, because I've driven a 3 speed on the column, and I can't think of anything more nightmarish.
