Question Mustang sounds

Hi all: Is it true or is it not: Some engine and/or exhaust sounds are "piped" into the cabin via the radio speakers? Thanks. Mark

true.

Since 2010, the Mustang GT has had a "sound induction tube" piped from the intake duct leading into the throttle body to the firewall. this is a physical piece of hardware which is a plastic tube, a chamber with a diaphragm (to act as a low-pass filter and to make sure fuel vapors don't get into the car's interior) and some foam plugs to fine-tune the sound quality. it's real engine sound; the intake valves open with the same pattern as the exhaust valves.

The 2015 GT has a more refined version of the sound induction tube.

the 2015 EcoBoost 2.3 has electronic Engine Sound Enhancement (ESE) which uses microphones in the car's interior and the car's audio system to "shape" the sound of the engine. It's not there to make a four cylinder sound like a V6 or V8, it's there to make a four cylinder sound less crappy.
