Default vw gti turbo vs 96 gt?

my one friend i used to skate with just bought a 05 i think vw gti turbo off the shop teacher from our school.
he said its running about 14lbs of boost.

seems like its a pretty quick car does my 96 gt(mods in sig) stand a chance.
its a 5spd and he doesnt seem like his good with a 5spd yet.

Hard to say. I don't know what stock boost is on the GTI. If he's stock then you got it though.

It's really hard to say because you have some legit mods but NPI 2v's don't really respond to well to modification.

Run him and let us know how it goes.

very true. thanks

the mods i did seemed to help for sure though. lays down better burnouts revs quicker and seemed to get an extra 5mph out of every gear.

im good friends with his brother he said the cars fast 130 in 4th and its a 6spd.
hes been in my car and said hes not sure so it will probably be close. last time he was in it i didnt have the x pipe,pi intake tb and plenum either.

ill let you guys know what happens.

for some reason, i thought you said a new GTi....an '05 is even worse. theyre down @ 20hp compared to the new ones and weigh more. since hes got the exhaust, a cold-air kit and running 14psi(if he really is), hes probably got a 210-215hp car. the 1.8T didnt come with a 6-spd. they only came with a 5-spd. the VR6 GTi's had 6-spds though due to the extra torque from the 2.8L 15* V6. if its a VR6T(turbo) with 14psi of boost.....you might in deep trouble. a VR6-T is NASSTTTY!!!! idk if you can mate the VR6 trans to the 1.8T's. id find out if its a GTi VR6 with boost though before you race. if it is just a GTi with the 1.8T go for it.

LOL man, just because a chick was driving it doesn't really mean much, especially if it was an auto. I think a girl can mash her foot down on a pedal just as well as a guy can.
Anyways, I'm not sure if your mods put even put you on par with a new edge GT, but they are probably close to it, or could be the same. I think the gti would have the edge but it could be close..
