Default Dyno, 4:10s, intake, and pullies tomorrow, then

headed to the track this Sunday. I've got a Vette problem coming up May 1st, so I'm trying to squeeze in some worthy mods asap. One of the Vettes is a 78, unknown mods, but said he ran a 13.15 this past weekend. He is really talking a lot of shat about how he wants to embarrass my GT. The other rival I have on my hands is a tougher one. He has a bone stock 2007 C6 LS2 automatic. He has never raced on a track, but still, he over powers me by a good bit. I think I can keep it fairly close on the track, but its going to take more mods than I've having done tomorrow. The guy in the 78 Vette is so confident that he'll win, that he wants to put $500 on the table. Idk about that part. $500 is a lot of money to throw away on a race. Anyway, what other mods would it take to handle this C6 from a dig, but no further than the 1/4?

I dropped my car off tonight at Fastlane. They are going to put a CL Intake on, install 4.10s, Steeda Pullies, and then dyno tune it. He said I ought to see 300 rwhp. Any of you guys know what S197s are putting down with these mods. It already has an axle back exhaust. Also, would you guys agree that high 12s should be easily obtainable (300' sea level, 85 degrees)?

300rwhp would be good for just those mods. You could see high 12's with a solid '60. D/R's, LT's, Mid-pipe and you should make it interesting with the C6 if its on street tires.

You didn't mention tires but if you really want to be in the 12s you gotta have tires. Those really are the very first mod you should make if you want to win a race. My advice about the C6 driver is get him on his very first run of the night before he figures out what he's doing then move on to the more experienced guy.

I agree with the tires... especially if you'll have 4.10s.

The stock tires just don't have enough grip, granted I'm no pro but even with my 3.31s I'm still spinning a fair amount when launching hard... I imagine you'd had a terrible time hooking with 4.10s.

High 12s is possible out of an intake/tune combo in an S197, but like everybody said, trying to launch hard on street tires with 4.10s is going to be a bitch an a half.

From what I have seen it will take more than that to take a c6, even with a poor driver

I really dont know if you are saying you want to do another quick mod to keep it close but you could do 75 or 100 shot of nitrous in under a day and for under a grand and pick up another .5 to 1 second. Traction would still be an issue though.

Are drag radials a requirement with the 4.10? Or will a much nicer set of street tires be sufficient?

I have a 295 tire out back and I spun a little in 1st and chirpped them hard in 2nd. Get the DR's and lightweight wheels or the 75 shot and you should be ok. I need lighter wheels and tires and Ill be in the 12's
