Default SRT-8 challenger W/ Vortech supercharger.

Stopped by my local shop and they were just finishing up installing a vortech supercharger on. I believe they said it made 487 whp and somewhere around the same in torque at 5 psi. Not sure what else was done to it, looked like stock exhaust. If it was, I'm sure another 50whp if not more is to be had. I wonder how much thier stock bottom end can take? Dodge did a really good job with the retro styling. I like it. Don't like the MPGs, but the car is badd ass.

Stock bottom end (on the 6.1s) is good for quite a bit of power, guys with the SMS blowers are in the 560+rwhp range on stock everything (puts the motor @ the ~640hp range...). The pistons are what go first on the higher boost (higher than ~8 psi) cars tho, the stock rotating assembly is forged and all that great stuff, just nothing else.

Sweet! I wonder how much longer until somebody calls it a slow pig?

Do they drink gas that bad? It looks like the EPA gives 21 and 19 HWY(manual and auto.) Thats not great but you can easily do better than the EPA average when taking it easy.

But yes sir, long tubes and the works would really let the monster breathe

Meh, they (SRT8s) get ok mileage. I got 22 driving up to and back from D.C last week (did 85 all the way up and back lol). (According to the readout on the dash anywho), during regular mixed city highway and stop and go traffic I get 16-17, all city driving it dips real quick down into 12...

Oh yeah, Chargers/300s/Challys are all fat pigs and slow, especially the SRT8 models.

Hmm. That's better than what I thought I read. I thought it was 12 MPG in the city and like 18 on the highway. 18 and 22 isn't to bad.

Yeah, it's not too bad. Wish I could pull the mileage my buddies get in their GTs or the guys running around with the boosted Hondas. The only time I cringe is when I have to do nothing but city driving, though it's leaps and bounds ahead of the Denali (whopping 12mpg combined city / highway lol, can't crack 14mpg even on long trips).
