hey guys, I have a buddy who has a 2010 Camaro SS and he says he would romp all day on my 10 GT, which is probably true stock for stock. But I have also been seing videos on youtube of a stock for stock race and one of the videos a mustang won, and another video they where very close. Ive read the numbers 0-60 SS @ 4.7 and GT @ 4.8 its not until the 1/4 mile the camaro gets it on the GT. But would a GT with mild mods such as a tune and exhaust keep right there with the camaro, since the camaro has the extra bulky weight. Dont get me wrong the camaro is a nice car love the retro. But what im asking is if they are so close stock what would get the GT up on the camaro. What do you guys think it would take besides a turbo/nos/Supercharger? Just curious want your guys thoughts!

If you had full bolt ons and a tune it would come down to driving, with the power advantage still going to the Camaro. It seems like people are having a hard time driving them correctly though. If your friend has a manual you might want to tell him to take it easy until they get the trans output shaft issue resolved, otherwise you'll be giving him a ride home.

13.20's with 2.25-2.30 60's, 40+ year old suspension sucks!
Best trap 107.11mph, we'll see what the new intake/carb setup does.
12.80 at 110.5mph NHRA DA corrected

They really aren't that close stock. There's about a 1/2 second difference between the two in the 1/4.Your likely seeing people that just cant drive very well on youtube! Intake, exhaust & tune should have you running close to the same E/Ts but your MPH wont be near the Camaros. Ad some drag radials to that combo and you should beat a stock Camaro at the track.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.
I saw a couple SS Camaros run last night. You can beat him if you're good as hell at running your car, and the Camaro driver isn't. All things equal, he'll beat you but not by much. One Camaro ran 14.2 and the other 13.3. I saw S197s run high to mid to low 13s, fastest about 13.0. All the S197s were N/A.

Eh, the SS's and WS6's came with some fancy intake systems and really didn't gain AS MUCH power as the normal LS1 did with a lid swap. I'm sure a less conservative tune would help though. But I still don't understand why you guys get your cars tuned with just a CAI/exhaust. Maybe it's different in Mustang land.
Why do some people not assume equal drivers when comparing two cars' straight line performance?
Doesn't the 2010 GT already have a CAI/Tune, hence the added 15hp?
from what I've read of late the 2010s seem to be underrated, many bone stock dyno tested in the 290ish whp range
