These have always been one of my favourite luxo-musclecars...
For whatever reason, I have loved these things ever since I rode in one at the age of 12. It did the longest non-brake assisted burnout of any car I had ever been in and I had been in plenty by that age thanks to my brother. My question is this...as it sits in this ad (God it's gorgeous!) and with a new set of 3.73's or 4.10's and modern rubber, do you think this thing would beat my car in the 1/4? Here's the beautiful tank and my mods are in my sig http://autabuy.com/Vehicles/Details....ac&Model=GRAND PRIX I remember that steering wheel, console and side profile like it was yesterday. Anyone else a fan of the GP?

I think he'd edge you out, but that's just a guess.
Interesting. What do you base your opinion on and I ask in the most unsarcastic way that can be conveyed through text. It's a big brutish car and the unbelievable torque it makes leaves me confused. They feel really quick for how big they are, kinda like my buddies 1970 Grande 351 Cleaveland with 3.73's. Although it seemed really quick I'd be hard pressed to believe it had a mid to high 13 in it but then again it felt like it. Damn oldschool motors and the torque they make lol...PS, the vid in your sig is priceless. I figure the guy in the 'Stang was looking to trade in his car AND his gonads after that outcome...

Well, based on what I read from the link that you posted, it seems like he would out power you even given your wieght advantage. Just a guess though. LOL, yeah I'm sure he was. Inline pro makes some bad ass sh1t.

428 GP could maybe run low 14's on a decent set of street tires. Mid-high 14's more likely. More gear isn't really what you want with close to 500 lb/ft of tourque. My old 455 1979 Trans Am had a 12 bolt with 3.73's would spin the tires through 1st and a lot of 2nd, and then top out at about 105 mph with the engine screaming. Sure was fun though.

Turbo 350 automatic. Most Grand Prix will be automatic as well - Turbo 400's.

^Yeah I know. My brother had a Grand Prix with the 455 and turbo 400. I can't remember the year for some reason but I think it was a '73 or '74 (it had PMD factory honeycomb rims). It wasn't as nice as the mint one in the ad I posted but that thing could do one baddass burnout. I think we measured one off that was close to 200ft long that only needed a quick stab at the brakes to get things started...
370bhp and 472btq in a car that weighs 3448lbs. i think if he had traction, you'd have some trouble on your hands.
There is no way in hell that that "SJ" weighs 3448lbs, if you've ever seen or been in one you'll know what I mean lol. It's like a 1970 Monte Carlo 454 or 1970 Cutlass SX 455. They are big luxurious musclecars and weigh more than a New Edge 'vert (which are around 3400lbs)
*EDIT* Just did some research and apparently the "SJ" with the 390hp 428 and Turbo 400 tipped the scales @ 3784lbs delivered from the factory. I would have guessed it right around 4000lbs...
