So since my 89 was in that wreck a few months ago I bought an 86 roller to swap my drivetrain into. The swap is taking a little longer than expected because I'm taking my time and making sure everything is nice and clean and properly done. It should be back together in the next few days. I plan on buying this engine in the next few weeks but for right now I just want to be able to drive my car so I'm putting my stock-ish 5.0 in the car. There is a kid who has been running his mouth for months about his bubble and how he smokes everything in sight and my mustang is next. He is running a full weight bubble with an LS block with a v-tech head, a gsr trans, and a T3/T4 turbo pushing 6 psi, but he can run 8 psi for the race. My car has a full exhaust, intake, e-cam, bumped timing, mallory ignition box, a whole bunch of suspension mods, and maybe even my MT ETs for the race. Here is the kicker, since I want my car back together and wont have this other engine for a few weeks my buddy is giving me his nitrous kit. The plan is to have my car tuned for a 150 shot since I really don't care about keeping the engine in one piece. I know this kid has lost a race to a crx with a built b16 with a 75 shot, but this car might weigh 2200 lbs with the kid in it, but even on the spray the car can't make much more than 220 whp. Any ideas of the outcome? I know there is a lot of variables but my 89 was going basement 14s at 96-97 mph last year with ****ty tires, no suspension work, and in need of a tune up, and that is at least 200 lbs heavier than the 86. I think with the N20 and the suspension and tires this thing should be good for at least high 12s, no?

I think you'll take it, but it won't be a decisive victory. You'll really have to drive it. His car should/could be around the 250 to 300whp range depending, although I would assume closer to the 220-230 range with the boost he's pushing. (although we don't know the turbo size, t3/t4 is kinda broad). My buddy clicked off a 13.1 in a EG hatchback at 250whp just to give you some idea of what he could run.
PS, Honda makes VTEC, V-tech is a phone, LOL.

It really depends if it's tuned. Fear no turbo car without a proper tune. Is he running Hondata? Crome? I could see this Civic running high 12's with a good tune.
I don't see you losing this race. I've run against a turbo B18 bubble, stripped down, slicks in the front and I left him quite a few lengths back. If you use the MTs you might not even need the spray, but if you do spray I think you will destroy this kid. Only way I see you losing is missing a gear really really badly, or something blowing up.
For the most part not too scared of the turbo Hondas/Acuras. Now if he was a K20 bubble, with some engine work and spray then I would be a bit worried. I raced one of those and holy **** did it move. Good thing I got the launch on him

If you get someone who knows how to drive (not me, LOL) you'd be suprised, they are just really hard to launch. There are some bubbles with less power than me running in the 11s. I suck at life, so I can't do it, but others can.

Well that's why I said for the most part. I could of run into a turbo B18 bubble with a really solid suspension and tire setup, with a driver who has a ton of passes under his belt, and get beat. Only thing is that isn't very common.
And don't worry dude if I had put someone else in my car It would of probably ran 2-3 tenths better lol.

Well the car is almost done so we'll see in a few days. I've changed my mind so many times about what I want for this car it makes my head hurt. I might stick with a 100-125 shot to be safe, but honestly I wanna blow his doors off. Like I said I know a crx that beat him pretty good so I'm hoping my engine with 100-150 shot will be enough. Oh, and RTI I know it's VTEC I was still sleeping a little when I typed the post and my mind was on auto pilot.
