See the Ford GT is special it's a Super car that is as docile as a mustang GT. no facny *** electronics doing the handling there. It's the driver and the car...that's it.....OH well the ZR! kills the FGT...it's inspiration won at lemans 67-69 against enzo ferrari not only did it win the 3 gt40's place 1,2,3 (long back story there).
the ZR1 and the FGT have very similar performance specs...the GT is slightly slower. Until you get into the GT X1 then its a different ballgame.
I've had the pleasure to sit in both a FGT and a ZR1 (no chance for a GT2 yet). I must say the ZR1 sits and feels like a regular base C6, but the way the FGT fells when you get in make you feel like a kid...

This has turned into a philosophical debate on what a mans idea of special is? What your saying can be said about any car! It's just a Porsche, it's just a Lamborghini, it's just a Mustang. Special is in the eye of the beholder! You say it's just a Corvette. But to the Corvette faithful, it is an American Icon heaped in over 5 decades of heritage. To them it is a world class sportscar than can go toe to toe with the most revered names in sportscar history! I'm not going to try to change your mind but to me, The ZR1 is special! But i'm easy. I also think SRT-4s and Mustang GTs are special. We can debate why they are special in another thread
And to me it is a very special car.

diddn't chevrolet make a special C4 corvette back in the 80's with like 1,000BHP?
I forget the name of it.... I think it was something like the sledgehammer or something and it was built by an aftermarket company
I'm pretty sure it was made in the late 80's and could achieve 250+MPH
my history is a little hazy on the C4's

Carbon-ceramic Brakes, Magnetic Ride Control dampers, the extra 135Hp that the supercharger offers. The ablilty to handly outrun a ferrari 599. And I know some people are going to say well I could throw a supercharger on a used zo6 and be faster for half the money. But right now the ZR1 is the fastest & highest performing stock Corvette in history! You can't make that claim in a Zo6! You line up a stock ZR1 against a stock zo6 and the Zo6 is going to get it's doors blown off. You guys are talking value but it's all relative. Is a Bugatti Veyron worth almost 2 million dollars? Of course it is if money is no object. Is a Ferrari so much better than a Corvette that it costs 3 times as much? Once you get over six figures for a car. You've left The average working mans relm and you've entered the relm of the filthy rich. Does Jay Leno care that the ZR1 costs over a hundred grand and looks like a Zo6 or does he care about it being the fastest , highest performing Corvette in history?
and BTW - Leno cares that his is vin# 00001!

If your Jay , You might as well do it up right and have the first one. I seen him say on an iterview he gets a million dollars for every stand-up performance he does. That's his spending money. The salary for his show is for the bills.
The twin turbo callaway was a beast. Just not a stock production beast built exclusively by Chevrolet. Kinda like Saleen is to Ford.
