Default have no idea but I'll ask

Before I go any further, I am too lazy to jump thru the hoops of going on the other site so I'll just rely on stang drivers experience.

My buddy just bought a 88 Honda (riced). He bought it for $400 because it was parked ajacent to a building on fire. The car was burned pretty badly but mostly cosmetic. My buddy works at a bodyshop so he had bought a parts car and is going to fix it.

Here is the question. THe previous owner gave him the reciepts for a bored out motor, suspension mods, custom exhaust (I think it's decafe) all totalling about $9000. Most of the $$$$ were spent on suspension parts. The car right now is not safe to drive but he wants to know hp, quarter times etc. I say high 15s but have no idea really. Any opinions and I know I was pretty vague with the description. The engine looks stock other than the overbore.

He wants me to take it down the track for him (I have few passes under my belt) and have never driven FWD on a strip.

A totally built N/a Motor could be 350Hp. 9 grand worth of receits is a lot of mods for a Honda. Figure a grand for exhaust. 3 grand for a top of the line suspension. Thats leaves 5 grand for go fast parts. Could be a 13 second car or a 16 second car. Need more info on the engine and go fast parts.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.

Like BB said, we'd need to know the enigne and what else was done to it. 9K is alot to spend on a honda, my buddy built a b18 bubble a few years ago and with only about 2K into the engine it was throwing down 230-240 whp and would run low 14s all day stock weight. He stripped it out and did some suspension work and it was running mid to high 13s.

THanks guys, this is what I was thinking, I'll just have to run it down the strip. I still think high 14s to low 15s. I talked to the guy who owns it and he said exhaust, intake, header and bored out motor in a riced 93 Prelude. Sounds kinda boring to me. I guess I got the $$$ figure waaaaaay wrong too. $9G for those mods sounds steep. I think most of the receipts were for the body kit, paint wheels etc. This car is definitely riced.

Well h22 make decent power for a honda engine, but exhaust and intake is no way going to give him over 240 bhp. He'd at least need a set of cams and maybe a stroker kit to make good hp.

It's burned rice but I'll try. Like I said before the car was parked really close to a building fire. The car was so hot the windows and sunroof shattered. Ya gotta feel for the original owner I guess, all that time and money gone. All the bondo has crinkled and I can't believe how much was used. It's like a skim coat of plaster on a wall just about everywhere on this POS. But hey, for $400 for the car, $200 for a parts car, a whole lot of elbow grease he's going to try to make a few bucks.

I raced a guy a while back who swapped a N/A 2.0L Honda engine (not sure on the specs, from a Prelude maybe? I am import dumb) into his Civic hatchback; it went 14.0 @ 100. Quite impressive IMO.

It's early 90s prelude and it's from the Toronto area. They love rice up there. My neck of the woods its 90% domestic cars.
