Default Any bike experts? 2007 GSXR-600 vs. 2008 SV650

Heres the situation gentlemen.

Rice burner whom I hate with a passion has a GSXR600. Everytime I drive my 2v through town he revs the piss out of his bike and cuts me off. Anyway, I'm picking up a SV650 next week(for different reasons), and I'd like to know how close/what I need to do in order to beat this douche.

2007 GSXR-600
Driver weight: 230 lbs.
Bike weight: 365 lbs.
Standing 1/4: 10.84
Power: 125hp
Engine: 600cc inline-4

2008 SV650
Driver weight: 170 lbs.
Bike weight: 375 lbs.
Standing 1/4: 11.5
Power: 75hp
Engine: 650 V-Twin

Now, he has an obvious power advantage, nearly 50hp. But, I have the weight advantage since he's such a chubby guy.

Right away I'm buying a header/slip on exhaust/K&N filter. I have no idea how much power that will add, but hopefully it will help close the power gap. (Not to mention get rid of that rice burner sound)

Opinions? Estimates? Insults?

Thats going to be a tough one man. I'm not sure a 60lb driver weight difference (minus the 10 lbs extra weight of your bike equalling 50 lb weight advantage to you) will close the gap, even with your mods. I'm no expert when it comes to running bikes though.

Yeah a tough one is what I'm expecting.

You could always just run over him with your Mustang!

while you have the weight advantage the top end on the GSXR is going to run off from your fairly quickly.

this is exactly what will happen... V-twins are explosive off the line, especially in a low weight crotch rocket body... but after around 75MPH the high revving inline 4's will just "RUN" away from them.. and by run I mean a car length every 20MPH or so

don't feel bad though, I'm looking to get a SB9SX next spring, so we'll be in the same boat as far as vicious little V-twins with no top end and gobs of torque XD

V-twin bikes like meatier cams... go to a nearby bike shop and see how much more redline that particular V-twin can handle... I know on buells people that are looking for top end get pretty beefy cams (for the engine) and bump the redline to fit the high RPM loving grind... you will lose quite a bit of low end torque but the top end will be night and day

if all else fails swing the rear tire out and race him from a stop XD

Ya know I notice that whenever he rice rockets around my car. That engine HAS to be spinning at 7000rpm and the ricer only slowly zooms by my car.

I might just use that insane rev topline to my advantage. There are a bunch of stoplight to stoplight areas in town, I'll find one short enough where my torque will come in, but he won't have time to get the revs he needs... Hmmmm

And be sure to post pics when you get your bike, it sounds nice.

Uhh, no. Zero experience racing motorcycles. I've been driving one daily for about 15 months, but I'm talking 0-45 mph speeds. I think the fastest I've gone on two wheels is 60 mph

Short of nitrous, nothing you do to an SV650 will let you run with a Gixxer6... especially if you throw in a corner or two. Only exception would be if a track rider were on the SV and a newb were on the Gix.
