Honest question. For those of you with enough power that traction is really a major problem on street tires.
Does it bother you to know that your car is only going to be fast at the drag strip unless you drive around with your racing tires on the car all the time?
It kinda bugs me to know that if I ever put a blower on my car I'm probably going to get my ass handed to me by all the little AWD jap cars out there if I ever engaged in a street race with one.

I think most guys (girls are excluded, because they're gay) with that much power usually drive on DRs or street tires that are very sticky, especially compared to the stock tires. But that's just part of the game, IMO. If you are going to up the ante by adding forced induction, it should be required to have sticky tires to handle all the power.
my car ran 11s in full street trim... (less 75lbs in spare & jack being out)

You can never have too much power, just not enough traction. 11.867 @ 119.35
Well the reason I ask is that I know a lot of people do NOT run with sticky tires like slicks or drag radials on the street. In fact I've been told on here that I'm not "serious about racing" if I choose to do just that. I should always have a separate set for the strip. Or so I've been told.
I've also been told that there is no street tire out there that can even come close to the stickiness provided by a drag radial or slick. They are all going to be spin city.

Who gives a sh!t what people say! Do what works best for you!

yes very serious racers will have full slicks on light weight rims for the track. usually 15". But a set of those can run you $2K+. Many of these guys will run a DR on the street because the car is worthless with a street tire.

that is true.... look @ the treadwear ratings. A good performance tire will have a rating around "200-250", a DR "00". A good DR on a high horse power car IMHO is a must if your gonna try and use that power on the street.

Yah you're probably right I know. Opinions are like buttholes... Anyway it does bug me to know my car would be fast at only the strip and spin like a maytag when I'm on the street.
I think these 295mm NT05 should be plenty for now assuming I can learn how to drive this manual car off the line like I should. But eventually it'll be time for something better. And I'm thinking 555R if I want them to last. And if not, M&H has a drag radial in 275/45/R18 that would work out well with my wheel setup. Spendy though and I'd be replacing them every year.
