My car feels fast to me. But I drive a 4cyl 90hp honda most of the time. Obviously I know a stock or near stock GT isn't considered fast by most people on this board.
Just curious to see what the different opinions are. Is a 12 sec. 1/4 fast? 11? From what I've heard in the 60s/70s even a 13 second street car was pretty much smoking.

I have to say that for a car on the street, mid-12s is "fast" for me. Where I'm at, you don't run into too many cars that are faster than that. Occasionally I'll run into a Z06 or a Termi but they are few and far between. I've only lost one race with Melanie in the past year and a half, almost 2 years (on the street. At the track I lose left and right...damn 9 second cars! ) and that was to a semi-bolt-on Trans Am.
At the track, that's another story...but I think you're talking street/DDish cars.
To me, running anywhere from low to high 12s is pretty fast, especially if its doing it on street tires. I know lots of cars are way faster, but for a good reliable DD that costs 40k or less, I gotta say 12s is fast. Honestly though, if you're running a mid 13 or faster, you're quicker than 95 percent of everything else on the road.

Fast in what regard? There are cars that will run 11's that would get killed on a road course by 13 or 14 second cars.
Are you talking just in a straight line, or overall performance and balance?

Who cares how much horsepower it has, all that matters is how fast it goes!
13.20's with 2.25-2.30 60's, 40+ year old suspension sucks!
Best trap 107.11mph, we'll see what the new intake/carb setup does.
12.80 at 110.5mph NHRA DA corrected
It's tough to say. I think anything that's running 12's or faster is fast. I don't consider either of my cars to be fast, especially compared to cars on here. But, in my area, they're two of the fastest everyday street-driven cars. So, everyone considers it to be fast.

11's is fast for a street driven car. Around here though every swinging dick has an 11 second car. There are so many blower stangs, heads and cam LS1's, pullied Termis, that's almost a joke to have anything slower than 12.5.

I respectfully agree to disagree with you guys... I think there is a difference between a fast car and a quick car. A quick car, which is what most of us drive, is a car that will kill most from a dig and up to around 115-120 mph. A fast car has the ability to be in a mid to low gear like 3rd at 100mph+ and then look like it's cutting through air like a knife and continue on towards 170mph... We do the quarter mile in mid 12's or 11's, but those Z06's run the standing mile in 29 seconds; quick vs. fast

I'm thinking w/regard to a daily driven car and it's performance in the 1/4. To be more specific.
Thanks for the opinions thus far. I doubt I'll ever be into the mid 11s around here. Not with the terrible air we have to run in. The expense is outta my league.
Friend of mine with an 08 just ran a 11.4 @ 126 last weekend in a 5800' DA. But he has a techo blower and a ton of other work done. Don't wanna spend that much...

Your best bet would be to run nitrous. Still won't see 11's, but you'll cut down on that time.
I think a 'fast car' in terms of quarter mile performance is anything 12's and below.
