Cool 1998 Cobra beat a 1994 z28

One night I was out parked at a Walmart and some punk kid comes up with is Z28 and calls my car a pooch and I asked him if he was still in high school and hes said yes I'm a junior and I laughed and asked him if your daddy bought his car. He said yeah. Then he asked me to race and I told him I dont race for free so then he offers me $200 cash and so im down for it. So we found a good smooth country road and he had an automatic with a shift kit but other than that he was stock for the most part. I had gears, exhaust, and decent drag radials so i hooked good. We both took off and immediatly he jumped out in front and then when I hit 2nd gear I literally jumped 3 cars on him and by about the 1/4 mile mark I beat him like 6 car links. I figured these z28s had more than that but im $200 richer and he wasn't cocky after that. That taught him not to **** with a COBRA!

Nice kill! So, he offered $200 and didn't even ask what you had done to your ride?

lol you should have given him a run stock, esp him being auto, i've driven around a few of them, i coulda told you you were gonna rape him.

While they've broken 13s i've seen a few run right around 14.0s-14.2s.

Kinda surprising he jumped out on you and then you caught up. I would have figured the other way around.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.

I definitely think your 4v is plenty capable of taking down a auto LT1 but your story sounds like a fairytale to me.

A geared, full exhaust, intake 4v can easily pull a stock auto LT1 on the top end. It really shouldn't be close. I'd guess the Cobra is capable of 105+ traps and the LT1 would probably be around 100.

I think he meant that the Cobra, with gears and DR's, should've jumped out instead of the LT1. And we all know that a 4v, with mods, is going to outrun a stock LT1 up top. LT1's aren't really topend threats until you start letting them breathe a little more.
