Default 86 LX vs. 05 S4

A kid I know wants to race the LX. He drives an 05 Audi S4, with a miltek exhaust, and intake, and just got some chip. I know stock the car has 340 bhp, and without the chip his car would be lucky to 360 bhp, but the Audi/v-dub kids are claiming he got something like 30-40 hp from the chip. This isn't the TT S4, or even the new supercharged straight 6, this is the N/A V8. I personally can't see picking up 30-40 hp from a tune on a N/A engine. I know the german performance cars are de-tuned when they bring them over to the U.S., but still. My mods are in my garage. He said he wants to do this at the track, so I'm thinking with my mods even though he has AWD, that I'll blow him away out of the hole and try to make him play catch up while I spray. I'm hoping someone who knows about these cars can chime in though.

they're porkers, around 4100lbs. he should be at around mid 13's at probably 106-108mph with those mods. stock they usually run upper 13's at around 102-104mph.

Any idea about the chip? I can't tell if it's B.S. or not, I don't know too much about how those N/A 4.2 V8s are tuned from the factory. I honestly don't think I'll even need the spray unless his "chip" really netted him the 40 hp he claims.

Thats what I thought. I might just let him think he's got me by not spraying for the first run.

don't forget we're talking about the early 4.2 V8 S4's here Stone. the B5 S4 is obviously going to pick up a lot more power off a tune or chip.

Curious, do you have any numbers Project? Or are you saying that you don't have everything done to your car, just have all the parts? That statement about having all the parts and then your sig has me confuzzled.
