^ OD is 4th gear; the "D" with the dark circle around it. 3rd gear is represented by "D"

How many foward gears can you manually put the shifter in? And what number/letters are beside each one? Im not familiar with these, as you can see..

i can only go forward "3" gears...is 1,2 then D...and overdrive is between neutral and D..but the only gear up D is neutral...

Ok, you would just put in "D" to keep it out of overdrive.

Hmmm, put it in 1st, then count up 2 gears to 3rd, or 2 gears back from neutral to find "D." You should be able to place the shifter in 4 foward gears with the shift pattern you gave me...

The AOD has 3 detents, 3rd and 4th are in the same position on the shifter. The AOD had an issue with skipping 2nd and going right to 3rd, the governor would just make it shift. Its why most Mustang people think the automatic is always slower. Well that and 5.0 Mustangs werent exactly torque monsters, and the 5 speed felt more violent and that was read as faster. The AOD will work quite well as a race trans, you just need to change a few things and the first on the list is the split input shaft. It was designed to be smooth, so smooth you cant feel the shifts, it wasnt set up for performance because of that.

Heck kid, I bet you beat him too. The 94-98 Mustangs were pathetic.

To be honest, no offense but both cars are pretty slow, with the edge going slightly to you.
