THe OP put a new post in giving us an update.. Thanks OP.. I was going to yell at everyone for being idiots.. since cops give tickets, insurance companies settle disputes of fault... no tickets means no party was breaking a law, in most cases though a cop will determine a reckless or careless driver.. if your insurance company thought they could have made a case easily they would have, since they don't enjoy paying out claims either.

There can even be cases where cops issue a ticket blaiming one person but insurance company investigators determine something different and it can even go to court.. 2 against one and no evidence makes sense though, skid marks could mean little in a case like this.. seeing that you were running the light so slammed on his brakes caused those would be his claim.

I'd also argue, you should be aware of what cross traffic is doing even if you have the light, it pays to pay attention. or in this case, sounds like it paid for you not to This happened over a year ago.. your car still isn't back together?

Oh man dude, that really sucks. A 93 Mustang GT and a 96 Formula were racing on a semi-main road when one lost control and ended up hitting the side of my buddy's brand new Civic. 5K in damages. What makes it even worse is that around here we have several stretches of road that come from nowhere and lead to nowhere, and they are pretty much reserved only for street races. Still dangerous, but atleast there is no one around for miles. Not that I would know of course....

Take lots and lots of pics as it worked for me. Initially I was blamed but I pulled a Matlock and won. Good luck

Been there man. Just take the settlement and move on with your life. Sounds like you made out like a fat rat anyway.
