Default 2011 V6 Mustang - 305hp, 6 speed auto

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/30/2...-2009-preview/

So what will it run in the hand of the best drivers?

The article says it will actually lose some weight. I'm going to say that car will be capable(best slip posted w/stock rubber) of 13.5 @ 103mph.

That's a thing of beauty right there. I'll say 13.8@103. Super nice car for the money.

I'm sure someone will be able to manage better then a 13.8 if the car is capable of a 103 trap.

lol, the **** sucks.

My guess is this new sixxer will be a few tenths behind the current GT. If they came with 4.10s, wholy ****.

If it's going to lose weight, would that make it a lot lighter than the Camaro?

That is one hell of a well rounded car, and a base car at that.

I wonder if they are using the 8.8 rear axle or the 7.5?

A 3.31 rear is optional. The 2.73's don't seem as bad when compared with six speed transmissions.

Damn, I would really want to drive one of these when they hit dealer showrooms. The sixxer stang is no longer going to just be a turd when it rolls off the showroom floor.

^ 2.73's are standard. 3.31's are part of the Performance Package.

The 2.73's are probably a nice match for the 6 speed trannies, as mentioned previously.

It's going to be up in weight a little bit, but it will still be under 3500lbs(according to Car and Driver) The new motor is 40 pounds lighter, but it picked up some weight with the dual exhaust and the bigger brakes.

Anyway... I'm gonna guess the magazines are going to run low 14s, maybe 14 flat. About what the Gen Coupe V6 runs(the specs are VERY close). The average drive will run mid - low 14s. And the really good drivers out there will break into the 13s. Areas with crapp air will be running high 14s low 15s. Looks like there is a decent amount of power to pick up in that intake. I say mid 13s with an intake and a tune :-)

Edit: Stock trap speeds will be 95-100

Intake/Tune will be 100-105 :-)

I still think, despite having less torque, that the new 2011 sixxer should be right behind an early S197 GT. The car should be a little lighter than the GT, and it has a six speed to boot.

IIRC, the Hyundai Genesis runs it's 14-second times because they don't have great short times (harder to launch because of torque? IDK).

I think it's more tha lack of torque. It only has 260lbs... this new sixxer has 280lbs of torque. But I think it weighs a little more than the Genesis, which is why I think it'll run the same times.

The '05-09 GTs have 320lbs of torque and 300hp. So I think the original GT will still have the edge. It'll be like a stock GT vs 350z. It'll be close but the GT will take the W. The 10's will have even more of an advantage with the new intake, and the track packs one with the 3.73s should be able to take down the sixxer. I have no idea what the torque curve looks like on the new 6, and I haven't seen anyone say what RPM peak is at... but the 7k Redline leads me to beleive it peaks high... so there probably isn't a ton of torque down low.

The new 5.0 is going to be quite a handful! Can't wait to hear the numbers!

Looks like a nice car. I don't see why it wouldn't pull a V6 camaro easily with the lighter weight and basically same HP.. Slap some bolt-ons and gears in that thing and it could be pulling on stock S197 GTs, never mind a 2v. Can't wait for someone to slap a turbo on one, hehe.

With 1hp and a few lbs of torque advantage.... oh and like a 400lb weight gap lol... the new V6 Mustang should have no problem walking all over the V6 Camaro lol

If they keep the price the same or even charge $1k extra. It'll put it right at the same price as the V6 Camaro, and $3k less than it's closest competitor performance wise, the V6 Genesis Coupe. It'll cost the same at the Turbo 4 Gen Coupe, but will be much faster. It'll also make short work of the Challenger V6. Might even put up a good fight against the Challenger R/T.

This car will quite a performer at a really good price. I can't think of any car that can come close to it for the same price new.

damn, that's a sweet looking ride with a healthy amount of HP.
(-;

160 top speed even..

I'd still say, 14.0@102 average, 13.8@103 better than average...
