H/C C5 vs turbo S197
My buddy in his vette decided to say forget nitrous and go the extra mile and get a stage 1 livernois kit. Along with that he will be running a Halltech intake and LG longtubes. Nothing else no fast intake or pulleys just those mods and have it customed dynoed. I will be running a 70mm turbo and hopefully getting a tune for 470hp. Was only gonna go 450hp but seen more and more people pushing out high 400s with turbos so decided to chance it. The guy thats tuning his car said he'd make about 450 and smoke my car. I don't think without a intake or anything his car would dyno that high. I remember my buddies SS had full bolt ons a big cam and AFR heads and made 432hp and like low 400 tq. What do you guys think the outcome could be?

What kind of race are you talking about? a High way roll favors the Vet. At the drag strip I like your chances. The turbo should help you get off the line smooth before you hit boost. Where as with a N/A set up the power is right there as soon as you mash the go peddle.

Well I'll have drag radials and he won't for awhile so he prolly won't wanna do a dig. I was thinkin if he dynoed around my buddies SS we would be pretty close till triple digits and then he'd start to pull away. I just don't like when people talk smack about a car they don't even know.

What year is the Vette, and is it an auto or manual? If it's an '01-'04, then he should already have an LS6 intake manifold, and there's really no need to change it. And if it's a manual, then he should be somewhere in the mid 400's for power. Was your buddy's SS you talked about an auto? Because with a big cam and AFR heads, he would've been putting down a lot more than 432 with a 6speed. If the Vette does end up putting down 450+ and you make 470, he will beat you because of the weight and aero advantage at higher speeds. He won't smoke you by any means though.

Mine made 457rwhp on motor alone with the factory intake and factory ported throttle body. Just for reference. My old car, with factory heads/LS6 intake/factory ported throttle body/cam swap made a bit over 400rwhp on motor. Just a reference for ya. Depends on how aggressive he wants to go.

His is a 6speed and my buddies SS was also a 6 speed he had a futral motorsports cam I believe it was a F14?? He got it tuned somewhere in flordia when he was down there. Also I found a video of the livernois kit on youtube it put out 420hp and 390tq according to them. All cars are different though. Also I am running the on3 kit as far as supporting mods I just have the fuel upgrade mods and thats it.

nice i would love to see some numbers from it i was looking into one..... if you get a good tune making 470 like u said it should be a close race could go either way. btw do u have a auto?

Looks like you're going to have a slim power advantage and he's going to have decent weight and aero advantage. If you can drive I think you could beat him from a dig but eventually he's coming around you.
