New 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition
My buddy just bought the new 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition and wants to meet me at Car's and Coffee this next Saturday. He just picked up the car today and my guess is he is going to want to make a few runs side by side. I running close to stock so my guess is it will be pretty close at the end of the quarter. How does the stock Mustang compete with a stock Evo or an STI?

Mods move to street/strip bench racing subforum?
The Mustang is at the disadvantage from a dig run in a street race against a '09 or later WRX due to the AWD. Ditto on just about any STI or EVO.
In a 1/4 mile race it's more even since the V8 car has a chance to stretch it's legs better.

you'll be able to pull on him from a roll for sure, due to the '10 gt's trapping 105 in the 1/4 mile stock with a 5 spd. those evo's and sti's are gonna get you off the line every time unless the driver sucks. from a roll would be better race, awd is terrible from a roll. don't think they trap much more than 102-103 in the 1/4 stock.

Honestly, I don't think AWD is any better from a dig than a RWD, not on dry pavement anyway. It can go either way depending on drivers, imo. An AWD car can bog down just as easily as a RWD car can light up the tires. With that said, the STIs are quick SOBs. I'd say the OP has his hands full with this one.

I just drove a '10 WRX(which some mags claim is even faster than the STI) and it impressed me! It was dead until 3k but boost came on very strong after that until redline and it pulled really hard in first. The other gear were pretty decent too. For some reason when I banged gears it fell on its face.....maybe I was hitting the redline fuel cutoff?
