Default A new 5.5L V8 for the Camaro to battle the 5.0 Mustang?

Looks like when the C7 Corvette hits the market, it will be using a new 5.5L version of the small block chevy...possibly using direct injection to make 440hp. As weve seen in the past when the Vette gets an engine the Camaro is usually close behind...

New C7 Corvette gets a 5.5L V8

I never thought i would say this, but that is one ugly corvette. And to your original point, I agree.

gesh take it easy... the body is just a concept. Alot of changes can occur between now and production.

I remember that from an article about Transformers.
The thing is ugly as sin.

But it does look like something that might belong in a transformers movie.
Not a gen 1 movie of course haha.

GM actually downsizing their engine size for more power??

I would like to see a C7 concept with those .... somewhat horrible-but-cant-look-away side vent things on the front end. Maybe make those smaller and drop them a bit lower as to allow space for headlights.

i think that this concept will remain as only a concept...i just needed a good picture for the article...

if you look at the original motor trend article (linked at the bottom of my article) there is a rendering of a yellow "c7"...and its pretty brutal as well. it looks more like a 599XX.

That's totally a concept and the C7 I seriously doubt will look anything like that.

but yes, it's fugly.

As far as the 5.5L, IF they make the engine, it will be interesting to see if they go OHC with it, or in typical GM style manage to develop yet another badassical OHV cylinder head, and just turn more rpm with it. Manufacturing and materials tech has changed a lot over the last 10 years, and 7k rpm pushrod engines aren't difficult to achieve, especially in a higher end car like a Vette.
