Default 03 Mach vs. New 5.0

Just played with one, but we were unable to line up so it was he flashes brights behind me and we take off. I was pulling pretty good but he was really catching up in the top end. I'm hoping I can see him around town and ask if he wants to line up.

What do you guys think the outcome would be ? I am going to assume he is a stock manual trans. I've got a filter and Magnaflow Catback.

Really seemed like at first I was taking off from him good but at like 80-90 he was starting to get on me fast.

He did say I had a strong running car which leads me to believe it wasn't exactly a cake walk. Not sure what gears he has, it's just a GT not the racing package.

I'm thinking it'd be a decent one from the start and he'd kill me up top.

Power favors the 5.0. It's got good top end hp with a broad torque curve, so once it gets up into 4th pulling across that healthy rpm range, it has some pretty long legs.

Finish up your Mach with full-bolt ons, 4.10s, and a good tune. That will put you in the 110+ mph range. That should put you in the position to make a decent driver's race out of a new 5.0.

New 5.0 has the edge.

Defo, the 5.0 Coyote. I took mine out for some brief mid RPM pulls on some open back roads, and from 3000-5000 RPM, the torque pulls like a Mack truck except with screaming RPM.

I have yet to push mine to the 7K RPM redline, but feeling that torque pile on above 2500 RPM, I was damn surprised how a factory stock engine really pulls like a seriously modded pushrod 5.0 of old.

And has the top end to match. Good set of 4V heads + independently variable cam timing = win.
