3v VS 350z HR
So some guy wants to run me that has a 350z with the HR motor. I think they started those in like 2006-2007. It's an auto and I assume it is stock.
I've got an 08 GT 5mt with a tune, 4.10's and some 285's on the back.
Where do you reckon?

what is the HR motor? Is it the touring version or what?
One of them was 306 HP the rest were between 287 and 298 I believe.
You're fine. A 350 Z is the same as G35 their not slouches but unless you can't drive or he has giggle gas, it's a drivers race.

You're fine. Just launch well and there won't be any issues. From a roll, as long as you start in the correct gear you're fine but there will be less of an advantage for you as the difference in TQ between the S197 and 350Z is dimished significantly

I wouldn't under estimate that HR engine. My wife has the same 306 hp HR in her G35-S Sedan, and it handed my Cobalt its *** from a dig, as well as my friend's 2V GT. I got her from a roll, but it was extra ugly for the 2V, like bus lengths. Saying the OP is better off from a dig is nonsense. You can't look at the car's advertised torque and make a call like that. Their gearing MORE that makes up for the lower torque, as well as the near 8k RPM redline, power curve, etc. My G35 (automatic sedan) has no problem lighting up both 18" 245 rear tires from idle. My guess is that the edge goes to the 3v, but that 350 is going to make him work for it. The HR 350Zs can run low 13s at 106-107 mph.
