410w SN95 vs HC LS1.... againnn
its winter, the cars are apart, and the rivalries are heating up again! somthing to chew on:
my car - no track time in 2011 (ya i know wtf-ski)
his car - best of 11.54 @ 124
we ran once, he was having some issues, both cars N/A the result was pretty inconclusive:

so heres the line up, with changed for this year noted
1995 Mustang gt (made 440 rwhp this year before improvements noted)
410 W
AFR 205 heads (CR was 10:1, will now be machined to 66cc to allow for 11:1 compression)
ed cutris cam, not sure on the specs, but his tuner said there is more room for improvement here, so he may be going with a higher lift cam.
trick flow box R intake
LT headers - prochamber dumped
D&D t-56 (new for this season)
built 8.8 + 3.73 gears
Weld drag light wheels (now on in place of the 17" 99+ GT wheels)
removing about 100 lbs
2000 Trans Am Ws6
stock 346 Ls1
Trick Flow cnc 215 heads 58cc (should raise CR from 10:1 to 11:3:1) (new for this year, i have been on stock 853 casting heads)
235/242 cam (replacing the 231/237 cam)
Lt headers, catless Y pipe, borla catback
moser 9in with 4.11 gears (moving up from the 3.73's)
FAST 90/90 intake manifold (was running an LS6 this year)
Race star drag wheels (will run these in place of my 17" C5 corvette wheels)
Mcleod clutch master cyl (i will now be able to resolve my shifting issue )
I have already removed 250ish lbs out of the car, probably another 75 to 100 to go
so both cars will be getting faster, but who will go fastest? track? roll? discuss.

Maybe. You don't see too many stock cube cars making 500+rwhp though. But, I've been amazed by a few different cars I've seen lately. JT, how high do you think you're going to have to spin the motor for that new cam? I hope you're throwing some Katech or ARP rod bolts in that thing with the new setup. I wouldn't really trust the stock bottom end with that valvetrain. From my understanding, the stock rod bolts don't like much rpm. That's why I played it safe and threw some ARP's in mine with a much smaller cam than that and a few more cubes. Hell, I still have to spin to ~6700 to make power with my 231/236 with the 6.0.

Why does his tuner think there's room for improvement with the cam? If the owner was realistic about what he wanted for performance/reliability, then what Ed ground him is about as good as it's going to get.
From my perspective though, with AFR 205 heads on a 410w and an FTI grind from Ed, if he can't walk away from you then the combination is less than optimal or it's not tuned right etc.

Meh, i am not worried about the rod bolts. Funny you mention it though, i am tossing around the idea of putting forged pistons, rods, new bearings etc to freshen up the engine (and be able to spray it with zee big shot )
