lexus IS 350 vs '06 mustang gt
alright guys, there is a kid my age at the gym i go to who has a lexus is 350 with rims and an exhaust of some sort. anyways he's been talking a bunch of smack about how he's beat up on mustang gt's, challengers, chargers, you name it, he's said he's beaten them. now low and behold, he never says any of this to my face, but he'll say it when i have my back turned. how would i do from a dig or roll. 20 roll, 40 roll, 60 roll. i've driven the is 250 and was unimpressed, but the 350 has 100+ hp on that model. anybody raced one of these before? i've got an '06 manual gt with k&n filter and pypes muffler deletes. i don't want to race him, but i just want to get a good idea of how i would do. the kid is a huge tool as well, another reason why i'm asking your guys opinion. thanks

Lexus Is- 4.8 0-60 and quarter mile 13.3 and the IS-F is 4.3 0-60 and 12.6. That's some pretty impressive numbers. Idk how accurate they are, i guess it depends on the weather and the driver but looks grim lol

I don't see a IS-350 running a 13.3, maybe it can, but I'm not aware of it (link?). They are basically about a tenth faster than my 07 G35-S Sedan, and its supposed to be good for a 13.8 at 102ish. I still think it would be a really good run for an S197 GT. Probably a drivers race to be honest, with the slight edge to the Stang.

thanks stone for the help. i did just look on dragtimes.com and saw people did run 13.2's and up but the trap was like 103-104, and then there was a stock s197 gt that ran a 13.2 @104 as well. idk how an is 350 did those times, it shocked me b/c they seem to be a bit heavier than the s197. in terms of rolling power, i would think your g35 sedan would win, i've heard that those have trapped around 105 in the 1/4. here are the links for the is 350 and stock s197 gt on dragtimes

Appreciate the link, M5. I had no idea they could pull that off. Looks like they must be set-up from the factory with some pretty nice gearing, etc. Definitely can't overlook these modern V6 engines anymore.
I'd say the biggest challenge on your end would be traction, shift points, etc. Seems like the higher end cars like the Lexus basically drive themselves. If you can get a good launch and shift where you need to, I'd say its your race to lose. Would love to see it go down, so we could know for sure.
