The fact that Dodge can't get a 4,200lb car with under 500hp to hook up is a testament to the fact that they have extremely poor design. Even the Mustangs can hook their power extremely well with a very inexpensive suspension package in a lighter car.

But let's talk about other cars....Dodge Viper puts 600/3,400lbs down easily with no traction control. Or taken to the absolute extreme, the SSC Ultimate Aero puts 1,200+hp down with no traction control in a 2,750lb car.....so don't tell me it's just the big tires.

Dodge simply has bad development teams. Their body design teams are awesome, the new Chally is the best looking car out there. But their suspension and chassis design teams clearly suck. The powertrain is decent, but it's stuffed into a battlecruiser. They must have fired the Viper team or something, because they seemed to ignore the lessons from developing that car.

I think it would be a good time for Ford to bring back another 2 seater like the GT. maybe just stick a turbo'd 5.0 in it.. try to get it priced in z06 territory.. use a bunch of weight savings to get it down to a 3200lbs range? then they could even just throw it on an s197 chassis.

I just saw one on a Dynojet, and it put down 430 rwhp. If they can achieve those numbers consistantly then it appears that they might be a bit underated at 470 hp.

Kinda like the guy that posted a 390 dyno sheet for a 5.0 were the average seams to be 350-360??? I dont believe in factory freaks.

If they are going to be charging that much for the top end Chally it should be a SRT-10

Dynos lie.

Unless someone shows me an ASE certified dyno with an engine tested under SAE standards, as far as I'm concerned the numbers are BS. They may be accurate in some cases, but with 0 oversight, who's to say?

Dynos are tuning and development tools, nothing more. And besides, if dynos are so great for measuring performance, why is the last phase of vehicle development performance testing ALWAYS done with actual driving in an actual car with a crapton of data logging? Because they don't care about what the engine does on a dyno, they care about what it does in a car. The dyno is just there to help them get the engine to a baseline.

I agree about the dyno thing...beleive me lol! I've been on a few different dynojet dynos, and have seen wild fluctuations.

I need to remove the dyno numbers from my sig. I agree with everything above.

I think dodge should have reduced the weight and kept the same engine as opposed to keeping the weight and changing the engine. Once you buy a car you can always make it have more power but taking excess weight out is something people can't or won't do
