Default Soon; Whipple'd HO GT VS Supra Twin HKS GT2835

Hey Guys,

I'm hoping there are some guys on here with some practical info on Supra's.

Rival info:
My friend's 2002 JDM Toyota Supra - 6speed, is in the process of adding the HKS twinturbokit which comes with 2 Garrett GT2835 turbo's if i'm correct. There are no dyno's where we're from. He's also adding all the needed suspension upgrades and other parts for instance, Walbro fuel kit, 660CC injectors, Microtech standalone ECU. (Needless to say the obvious other upgrades, wastegates, bov, front mount intercooler, spec clutch etc).

I've seen dyno runs of a Supra with a similar kit on 23psi putting down 603WHP. His daily driver tune will most likely be ~ 12 to 15psi. Can anyone make a guess how much he'll be putting down with this tune?

My info:
I'm officially ready to pony up the money for lethalperformance's Whipple HO Kit with Jon Lund tunes. Hoping i'll be putting down the advertised ~440RWP. My other mods are in my sig. Other small things i also plan to order are lower control arms. What other things would you advise me to add suspension wise?

Bench race info:
I've raced against the Supra before when he was basically stock (boost controller ~15psi, front mount, oil catch can, HKS mushroom intake and suspension mods were his only mods as far as i know) against my 07 GT which just had the headers exhaust cai and 87tune (brenspeed). He beat me by an estimated 3.5 car lenghts. (No track here, we race on regular street in a secluded area with permission from the police) I got a carlengths jump on him due to his traction issues, after which he reeled me in by end of 2nd gear, in third there was nothing i could do, but watch as i got slaughtered.

Questions:
What do you think he'll be putting down on ~ 12-15 psi?
Will ~440rwhp and a slight traction advantage be enough to take the win?

I don't know much about those cars except that they can be a real handful from a roll. It sounds like you raced him from a dig originally, and i would continue to stick with that plan.

I don't think you can take the win unless your racing him with his current mods and you add the whipple...then maybe, but if your both doing your mods and then racing no way even from a dig, but you'll make it a lot closer. Those Supras are beasts for what they are.

The Supra will probably make 450-500 on the street tune and 600-700 on a racetune/full boost with twin garretts. You might be able to eek out a win on the street? I could have sworn whippled s197s did better than mid 400s at the wheels.

We have that local one 89LX mentioned. Whippled and he said it was 460whp and trapped 93mph in the 1/8.

I'm thinking the advertised RWHP is lower due to it being a mail order tune as opposed to having someone spend some time customizing the tune. That maybe where the 440 is coming from. I think from a dig, the OP will pull ahead more than enough to stay ahead. From a roll as already stated, the Supra ought to get away pretty easily. A vid of this would be good.

I see the supra taking the win from either a dig or roll.

Here are a few pics of our cars. His is almost finished. They sent the wrong injectors so he's temporarily driving with 440cc if i'm correct. It takes almost 2 weeks or longer to get ordered parts from some parts of the states to us here in Suriname. He wanted to start breaking in the clutch so we took our cars out for a spin. He's limited to 4500RPM. But it still feels strong even when just cruising.

If the whipple kit from lethalperformance is 440rwhp with a custom tune, what would you guess it to be with a email tune? I'm hoping not more than 20whp less.

BTW the other car is my friends 400+whp Integra, a fully built B18 engine with a Garrett GT35 turbocharger. I'm not a honda fan but it's pulls hard! Had a quick run with him from a dig, he was on street tires and had traction issues, i got a jump of about a car length, but he caught up before we got to third, after which he put about 5 car lengths on me before we let off at around 200kph.

there saying a email tune is 440.

you should be 20+ more then that with a actual dyno tune. The email tunes are very mild due to them not knowing each and every car, and trying to be VERY safe. kinda like what the factory does with cars now-a-days

Hmm, proabably get you from a roll, my old whipple'd mustang didn't pull a lot of mph on the big end of the track. FWIW, I trapped around 98 in the 1/8 and 122 in the 1/4 on good days. (this was a whipple HO on 10 psi, complete stock exhaust)
