2012 5.0 what do you think i'll run?
so got my new car Yesterday. Automatic, Steeda CAI+custom tune from a mustang tuner in Billings, MT (k&k performance) will be Installed Saturday, 275/50/17 M&H drag radials.
1st guess - What you think I'd run at sea level
2nd guess - What you think i'd run at my track at 4,000'
I'm going on sunday if the weather clears up, 30% chance of rain at yellowstone dragstrip forecasted, but they are regularly wrong, hoping it clears up.

well Ive got time at sea level & if your a decent driver you should be able to get bottom 12s & an 11.9x if you cut a decent 60fter. 400rwhp in a 3600lb car is high 11s all day at sea level with a good driver. Question is, how much of a gain will the CAI & custom tune net? Those MT D/Rs should shave a good 3 tenths. I have no time at above sea level! LOL! so Im not gonna BS there. Ill let someone else with the time above sea level to tell ya that.

The only gear option for automatics, 3.15
there is someone who has done tune only + Drag Radials auto that has gone 11.8@118mph , also another, 11.8@116, but no mention if he is auto or manual. both are kona blue
i see a guy with auto, tune + drag radial + o/r mid pipe+3.55s went 12.0@113 with 2000' DA.. i'm not sure how much going from 3.15s to 3.55s would help.. I guess some.
there are a few others in the 11.9 range auto with just tune+drag radials, I wonder why most people aren't picking up the CAI? seems its good for atleast 10whp.
edit: just read some on the forums, answered my own question, people don't think the cost is worth 10whp gained. they could be right, 1mph and .1 in the quarter isn't that much, kind of like how most 2010 guys weren't buying CAI kits either. oh well.. ill do close to full bolt ons, own it for a few years, then something so awesome will come out i'll have to buy it again (like the dual clutch autos and direct port injection)
well i'll throw in what i think, 12.0@116 for sea level, 12.7@110mph if we have good weather is my prediction.. looking like i wont get to run anyway though from weather
would be a lot better than my '07 bolt-on 13.5@102 though

My guess is if it can get out of the hole decent, it will run a 12.5@109-112 at your elevation.
I just dunno how that auto's get up and get going, so its kinda a crap shoot. if its "lazy" off the line at all, your probably "only" going to run upper 12's at best.

I read the same thread Mishri. It's real questionable whether the intake is worth the extra money. The stock airbox w/the tune is probably fine.
4000' DA would be the best I've ever seen out there. I think you'd be super lucky to hit 4600' if it warms up and gets sunny out there.
FWIW stock GT500 cars run mid 13s@108-109 on stock tires out there during the summer (6000-7200' DA) and mid 12s on a tire. 440-460whp 3800'ish lb. cars.
I think you might be able to clip a high 12 if the air is good enough and you can get at least a 2.0 short time. Bad air or a bad sixty it'll be a mid 13.

yep, if the track is opoen on sunday the weather should be good (like 4000' DA) so i'd expect 12s.. if iit's closed for rain and I have to go another time and the DA is in the 6000'+ range then yeah id say i'd be in the 13s till we get better weather.
