5.7 GTO
I have a friend with a beautiful 04 gto,its red with a sweet black interior, and I am scared of this car,it has a nice exhaust and I dont see a CAI or anything else when he raises the hood,my question is would I have a chance in hell against him? He says he crushes stangs all day long, and I dont know if I believe him or not.My car has a JLT CAI and 93 bama race tune.So let me know how bad I will get spanked!

Haha no problem man! I guess it really depends on his mods. Stock to stock it should be a decent run, and mod to mod i would think it would be close as well. It could come down to who's the better driver too.
My buddy has a bone stock 2006 GTO with the 6-speed, and every time we ran from a roll it was basically dead even. From a dig i would get him. Now i have full bolt ons, gears, custom tune, and cams (no i didn't spray in case you were wondering) but those goats are heavy a$$ cars.

i'm gonna agree that it'd be a close race. the 5.7 gto is basically an overweight camaro. is the gto a auto or manual. if yours is a manual and his is an auto i'd say you'll get him. and if both manuals then i think it'd be a damn good race.

I had an 04 automatic Goat for about a year. I ended up doing LTs, intake, catback, a good tune (350rwhp), and nitto drag radials. It would run 12.8 at 108ish on a 1.8 60'. Not bad, but not overly impressive for full bolt-ons either. It really needed a bigger stall to do much, which I never did. If your buddy is a manual, he'll be a handful, mainly up top. I've personally taken a tuned, intake, and catback manual Ls1 GTO to 160 mph, and honestly it did it pretty easily. It just wouldn't pull in 6th gear at those speeds. Anyway, like I said before, you should be just fine as long as you are both equal on mods.

If you can drive you will will by a good amount imho... LS1 GTO is a mid 13 second car with 105ish traps (manual)... while a cai/tuned 3V can sink low 13s (high 12s claimed) with a good driver. While I've seen some 'claimed' ls1 GTOs near the lower 13s I honestly have a hard time believing they can run anywhere near what I did stock considering my raceweight was 3600lbs (Curb weight alone on a GTO is 3725lbs vs my 3440lbs).
Do not be afraid..and get it on video.
