There are 2 fast civics at my track, running mid-low 11s, they figure they'll hit 10s soon. they are completely gutted and built, I'll need a whipple or rousch TVS to beat them :P

I think it's cool anytime someone with a civic goes out drag racing, usually they look down on it and think auto-x is where the real racing is. weaving around cones in a parking lot? what is this? Drivers Ed?
Your right, driving straight takes much more skill *facepalm*

F%&k. Fairly sporty looking. And l can bench press one. Their probably one of the cheapest platforms to go fast in. Their just like old 5.0 mustangs. you can buy them dirt cheap and the mods are cheaper. But if you want to go really fast and not just run mid 13s it's not gonna be all that cheap.
Considering their layout and ease of install removal of the motor.. a forged block with a turbo kit would be pretty sick. Too bad a lot of them are mostly CAI and fart cans lol

wow meaning cause of them being alot lighter than most factory fast vehicles they dont need as much whp as most. they can run the same 1/4 time if not better with 300whp vs a heavier car with 400whp or more. why???????????????????????? CAUSE OF WEIGHT THEY... ARE..... LIGHTER.

A person on another forum I used to be on had a gutted Civic hatch making a little over 200whp and was in the 12's on slicks.

All this talk about power to weight, civics being light, etc, brings up something that I have never understood. Instead of buying a cheap front wheel drive car like a civic, why not buy a dirt cheap, light weight car with race potential like the Miata? They weigh 2200-2300 pounds NON gutted, and they are RWD. You can pick up a pre-96 Miata for $1500-3000, drop an old push rod 5.0 in it (cam/head for cheap), and the T-5 transmission will even line up perfectly so that the shifter falls right into the Mazda's gear shifter spot. 300rwhp can be had for arounf $5-6k in a 2200lb car. Better yet, there are plenty of monster miata kits out there, so tossing an LS1 in one is just as easy. Even if you can't afford a V8 swap, you can still turbo the 1.8. I'm just saying, it doesn't make sense to me to pick up a Civic (that usually hold their value and cost more than Foxes, Miata's. etc) when you can have a much lighter RWD car that is just as cheap if not cheaper to make much faster. Miata too gay?

The difference between the civic & miata is simple. Barbie drives a miata. Vin diesel drove a civic to rob truckers.
