Everytime I think miata I think gay... Just my .02 cents haha. But on a rwal note I dont know why more people dont pick those more for drag racing. People pick those things up like crazy for road racing or auto x.

Didnt barbie have a Mustang and Corvette?

I would have owned the Miata too if id known about it....

Id assume most people dont use Miatas for drag racing due to the stigma with them, also irs. I can launch mine decently hard with rarely any wheel hop, just not with stock suspension.

I dont know what Barbie drove to be honest. I was just making a joke. Maybe you can tell us what Barbie had sinse you've probably owned a few in your youth. That explains owning the Miata now.

What year is your Mustang, and what mods?
I would really hope you dont need 600 hp to run 11s lol

My 96 gt dynoed at 384 rwhp at best and I ran 11.35@ 121 mph...Bone stock Longblock 4.6 PI motor with 11 pounds of boost.

This is also my DD that I drive to school everday.

Im sure I could easily knock it deep into the 10s if I wanted to turn it into a tin can like the honda guys.

I would rather keep my interior, radio, and AC though.

Hondas are gay anyway...doesnt even matter if they are fast IMO

You can pick up a pre-96 Miata for $1500-3000, drop an old push rod 5.0 in it (cam/head for cheap), and the T-5 transmission will even line up perfectly so that the shifter falls right into the Mazda's gear shifter spot. 300rwhp can be had for arounf $5-6k in a 2200lb car. Better yet, there are plenty of monster miata kits out there, so tossing an LS1 in one is just as easy. Even if you can't afford a V8 swap, you can still turbo the 1.8. I'm just saying, it doesn't make sense to me to pick up a Civic (that usually hold their value and cost more than Foxes, Miata's. etc) when you can have a much lighter RWD car that is just as cheap if not cheaper to make much faster. Miata too gay?

Because People that try to make hondas fast want to prove to all the stupid american car drivers that they are better duhhhh..

Even they though have a completey gutted, tin can, oil burning, break every 2 runs, P.O.S HONDA, they still got that one run in where they beat an american car, therefore they are better.

No way in hell I'll ever run that high unless I am making at least 600whp in a fully built motor/trans and 22ish psi on a KB, right?

Justin, as you can see from the quotes above, I was just encouraging the original poster of this thread. I too know a little bit about running a decent number with a daily driver that is a "stocker".

Here's an article I wrote about the experience:

5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine Project Shocker Phase 2

Ironically, I ran 11.36 @ 122 in my '89 LX with a stock 302, stock T-5, UPR Products suspension, and a little bit of boost, but mine was on street tires. So you and I ran basically the same ET in our stockers.

The car is a little different now though:

^^The '89 is cool and all, but I'm more impressed with our UPR Products 2010 GT. The 2010 convertible ran 10.17 @ 140 on street tires with no weight reduction (other than the wheels) and it cruises like a stocker. It's a really nice ride.
