Default "stock" LS1 trans am/camaro vs 06 gt

i know its been discussed probably thousands of times, but i don't have much time to go back and search for the threads, i have a paper to do tonight and i'm taking a study break. how would i do against an all stock LS1 camaro ss/trans am? i've got pypes MD's, steeda cai, and a brenspeed tune. i'm running 87 right now, but if i raced i'd use 93. my tires suck so we probably won't go from a dig, but we'd probably do a couple 40-45 rolls and maybe a 3rd gear 60 pull just to see. my buddy is stock, 01 camaro ss

I think you will get slowly walked, time for gears, long tubes or both. Trust me don't go from 3rd gear, that's the ls1's sweet spot.

yeah i had a feeling the tables leaned in his favor, especially since seeing all the traps they get in the 1/4 stock. and yeah i've heard is definitely a sweet spot for them, i ran a stock 6.0 gto and we did a 3rd gear pull from 55 and he pulled immediately. i was stock at the time too.

When my 06 had intake/tune and 4.10 gears I raced a stock LS1 corvette automatic at the track. He ran a 13.8@102 vs my 13.9@100. R/T and 60' were very close and he didn't start to pull on me until towards the end when he crept away.

Yea he's got a slight edge as it stands, though with 4.10s I raced a few of them and never lost....

It partly depends on the speed you race from and whether or not its an automatic or manual LS1. They both have their strong/weak spots.

I ran a few 13.0s at 107-108 in my 09 S197 with 4.10s, intake, UDPs, dyno tune, and mufflers. Most runs for that car were 13.2 at 107 though. My auto 01 SS is running very consistent 12.9s at 107-108 with a 2 tenth/two MPH faster 1/8th than the S197, with the occasional 12.8 (and one 12.7 at 108 pass after a 1 hour cool down )

Basically, you could very easily out drive your buddy and beat him, but its definitely his race to lose.

They are a bit slower on average than a decent running LS1.

damn lol, regardless it'll still be fun. i was happier that i beat the m3 more than anything, thats what i was shooting for when i got the intake and tune. if i could give an LS1 a good run for its money that was an added bonus
