Default race/track day this weekend

This sunday(if the weather hold out) i'll be heading to the strip for the last time. I already got the slicks loaded up in the trunk. I will be launching on the spray with 28" hoosier drags. They hook very nice on the street, so i cant wait to feel them on the track, however once 3rd gear hits they do seem to slow the car down some because they're so big i dont have enough gear/power to move them fast enough. Im aiming for 11's on the 125 shot, however if i dont get it i'll be throwing in my 150 jets. Last time my best was a 12.1@111, but it had a head wind that day, and that was before my longtubes and also with 555r's so i didn't leave on the spray. if there's no wind 11's shouldn't be a problem.

Also, I'll either be meeting up with that guy with the h/c/i lt1 camaro on saturday, or if the weather looks good for sunday we're meeting at the track. if we meet on saturday we will be doing a 20ish roll. we're both on dr's, unless we make it to the track then i'll be on slicks. he just went to the track a few weeks ago and ran a 12.8@113 on street tires. so it should be a decent race, depending on his traction i still give him the nod tho.

I see 11s on the 125 since you're planning on spraying from the get go and the weather will be better. Not sure how much weather affects nitrous cars? Doubt its very much though. The LTs ought to seal the deal. I'm going to throw my rep out there and say you'll run an 11.7 or better with all the changes. Not sure about your trap speed changing up or down though. It ought to go up since you're spraying sooner, but like you said those tires may drag you down some. Can't wait to see how you make out, man. Good luck!

Do you have any idea what the LT1's 60' was on that 12.8/113 run?

here's his post about his track visit, i didn't realize he missed a shift on his 12.8 run, and his mph was lower than i thought, lol:

Best times so far with my setup. But I was having trouble missing a gear on 5 of my 6 passes, not sure why. Also after my last pass I could feel something clanking on the bottom of my car. I thought It was the driveshaft hitting my safety loop but it checked out fine. So I left for home and it was still clanking on bumps and when i took off, so I babied it home and when I got home and lifted it up and the bolt that bolts the torque arm bushing to the trans was gone lol so the tarque arm was just flopping around slapping my trans. Not sure on what pass that fell off or if that could possibly be why I was missing so many shifts??? I usually only miss 1 shift at most at the track, I have a pro 5.0. Lastly I can still feel a top end miss so hopefully a new fuel pump will stop that.

best time - 12.84 (missed 4th gear but got it back in gear quick)
best mph - 112.33
best 60' - 2.034 (Nitto nt555 streets 315's)

Overall I'm pleased with my times especially on street tires and shorty headers.

I don't see him outrunning you unless it was from a roll or something. With solid shifts and a 1.8 60, I don't see him running much faster than a mid-lowish 12.

well if we dont make it to the track than we're going to be on the street, and i doubt he'll agree to a dig but i'll try. i'm guessing a roll race or two.

I'd hit him with the 150 for the roll for good measure. On the 125 it may come down to whoever gets the jump or who has the camera man. What are your thoughts?

i think with the 125 it'll be really close, until i shift to 3rd then i see him pulling on me. maybe two cars or so. I'd imagine with a 150 i could put a car or so on him thru first and second then stay even in 3rd. but i have no idea how this car will handle the 150.

Stick with the 125 in that case. Its not worth risking your car over a length or two.

Oh i'm pretty sure the car itself can handle it. I'm just saying i dont know how much the extra 25 shot will help it.
