Default Iv'e been challenged!

One of my neighbors down the street challenged me to race him in his 98-00 camaro ss. I asked what he had done to the ss to make it sound so sweet. He said right now it has full exhaust, gears and heads. I then asked what he thinks about the new SS camaro's? He replied by saying there easy to chase down... We swapped #s and will with out a doubt race some time soon.

I am a proud owner of a 2003 GT VERT. My major mods are 3.73's 100shot N2o,a bama sct tuner w/ dino tune. X pipe and cat back exh, (no headders)rear UCA's and LCA's. yes i have most of the minor mods too ie: CAI, TB, UD pullies too. I can honestly tell u guys i that ive raced the new 2011 camaro ss and loose a car length off the line, but get it back by 60mph and slowly walk them past 80mph. on the highway same result i loose a bumper from a 50 mph pull then slowly walk them. I have never raced an older camaro ss so i cant campare my car to it. but i just barley beat the new ones.

AM I IN OVER MY HEAD, OR DO I HAVE A CHANCE HERE?

had to edit to let u all know my car is NOT tuned on the n2o yet ...

Are you saying you slowly pull on a newer Camaro with or without spray? If he has heads, then he most likely has a cam. And if he has heads and cam, you are going to lose even on spray.

yep, I think even with nitrous you are asking for it. If you dont have the nitrous spraying, dont even waste your gas or time because it wont even be close. As said, If he has heads than you can almost 99% say he has a cam. Those older ss's may look ugly, but sure do move. Let alone fairly heavily modded ones

even stock LS6 heads and cam will make that car HAUL, id spray the hell out of it and pin it to win it and see what happens, chances are he'll walk you though...

I think your best bet may be from a dig, and your gonna have to launch the hell out of your car, and spray early(If you are spraying) and hope for some reason you get a dead hook....

No spray- don't waste the gas as someone said earlier...

Those LS1's are nasty with heads and cam. IMO, you shouldn't do it. If you still want to, you better get some tires and spray off the line and hook like a ****. I still think you're going to lose. Sorry

More than likely he has a cam. More than likely he will beat you. I would still race him (not for money). I have raced a lot of cars where the odds are against me and I still won. There are lots of factors that go into racing so you would never know until you do it. Make sure you video tape it! Where in california are you from?

Thank you all for your honesty...

I will deff spray. though ive never sprayed off the line b4. yes i can only beat the new camero ss on n2o. and i will try to get on camera but i dont think an extra 150+ lbs will help me out lol.

I currently live in Montclair, CA next to Onratio, Ca.
Visit this thread in a week and ill let u all know how it went down.
If i loose from a dig, i will take it to the highway and go from there...

yeah man cant hurt to see how your car does...atleast gives you an idea where it stands. My brother has a LS1 with heads/cam/LS6 intake/150 shot and n/a his car would pull my supercharged/intercool'd, bolt on, PI intake/cam'd car every day lol...that was before I went crazy with my new build though
