I've read alot of opinons on the cars listed below.. Just wondering. Stock for Stock and with equal drivers which would be the fastest in the 1/4 mile? We all have different opinions so my place them in order.. Fastest to slowest!
1. 11 5.0
2. 02 Camaro
3. Challenger SRT-8 (392ci)
4. 06 GTO (6.0L)
5. 99 SLP Trans Am Firehawk

The Stig

Those cars are pretty close and a better driver in one could out drive a poorly driven one. Theoretically the LS1 T/A & Camaro should be the same, but I would give the '02 a slight advantage because its newer and has a better intake manifold (although a less aggressive cam)

But with equal drivers, I would put them like this, fastest to slowest:

1. Challenger SRT-8 (392ci)
2. 11 5.0
3. 06 GTO (6.0L)
4. 02 Camaro
5. 99 SLP Trans Am Firehawk

The most reveling thing about this is GM was making muscle cars 10-15 years ago that has only recently been surpassed by most of the competition and is still competing with brand new cars.

The last 3 can go in any order. not a whole lot of difference in track times from what i've seen personally.

Only thing I would add is the auto 392 cars are a lot stronger than the manuals so I would put them equal if not above the 5.0.

Last three are a toss up really.

I'd like to see an 01-02 SS Maro on that list. They received a couple extra goodies over the Z28 that year, and IMO def have the edge over the FireHawk or 02 Z28.

Stone correct me of I'm wrong but only the 345hp package got anything special right? They are a lid/catback car if I'm not mistaken. Otherwise they had the ram air hood setup and optional muffler upgrades?

The Dodge and the 5.0 are really close and in perfect conditions are about a 1/2 second faster than than the other three. Lower mid 12's versus high 12's.

3.23s came on the z28 (they had option) and only those poor 2.73 geared guys get shafted, the rest of us got aluminum.
